my son had medical assistance (for a disability) for many years and he took all brand name meds. he has not been covered for a few years so things may have changed. also...i seem to recall that medicaid was considered a secondary insurance AFTER your private medical insurance.so...it seems like he should be able to get the script filled with your choice. maybe call you doctor and ask them if they know.
good luck.

I am a pharmacy technician in the state of Florida and my children are on Medicaid. The laws here are we have to give the generic of a medication, if it is available, unless the doctor calls the insurance directly and gets clearance to prescribe a medication as "brand only". Hope this helps!
