Has the "gentleman" in dating simply become... non-existent? And if so, is he still needed?

No the gentlemen is not extinct....just extremely endangered. And in my opinion he is definitly worth waiting around for.

Don't settle for a jerk. You deserve better.

Thats a double edged sword. My man is great st being is a gentleman but as women become more independent men don't feel the need to do so. The times are changing and it's sad that chivalry is dying but thats just what it is. there are still men out there just look for the one that holds the door open and go for it.

chivalry is only dead if you allow it. as a woman you have every right to expect to be treated as so. the problem is that for so long girls have let them get away without it. lately it seems as though young girls especially are just so glad to have "the guy" they have lost some pride and dignity along the way. a girl can subtly demand some chivalrous respect. we treat people how to treat us. most of the time when girls meet them at first if the guy is really into them he will do all the right things, and then he slowly stops doing them. if we tolerate it we deserve it. you can kindly remind them that you love that, admire it, and think so much more of them for doing it. if hes into you he will love to do it for you. if not then he dont deserve you. what does it take, an extra 30 seconds to open your car door, pull out your chair etc. dont forget woman can do some chivalrous little things too. most young guys especially dont realize that girls want this treatment these days. you'll never know unless you tell them. guys need to know that the little things really show respect to a woman and that they care, it doesn't make them whipped. good luck and you deserve all the chivalry you can get!!!!!!!!

well you see im starting to beleive that it is, because if i go on a date with a girl and be a complete gentleman to her, i will be firmly put in the friendzone. that aint cool, so i have a bit of an edge now. if a guy does treat u right when u first meet him, dont say hes just friend, he might be a great guy, give him a chance if hes not an asshole.

I like to be but I found out that some girls just think it's to nice guy stuff. I like being a gentleman but I don't know if girls really like that stuff.

Nope, some of us still polish up our armor and ride out as white knights to love and cherish the ladies.

Sadly, not many ladies need rescuing nowadays, and not many like gentlemen any more... its all about the dangerous guy now.

But I keep looking for a lady who wants to be loved absolutely.

In most cases, yes. Those of us who *are* gentlemen get snatched up pretty quick. Your problem finding a good guy may have something to do about where you generally meet men, e.g. bars = bad.

I hope so. It would be shame for all this charm to go to waste.
