It is used to replace heroin in drug treatment. Why would someone give you that? Throw it away.

Methadone is a Legitimate medication. It is made by major Pharmaceutical companies. I work in a pharmacy and see it daily. It's main use is to get people off heroin, but it is also used to treat chronic pain. It is highly addictive and quite powerful. I would not recommend taking it unless it were prescribed to you and only under the close observation of a pain specialist. It's not like Tylenol that you can take a couple, go to sleep, and feel better in the morning. Be careful! :)

Methadone is a common medicine used to treat chronic pain for people that don't respond to other medicines. It's economical, too. It is a common misconception that it is used only for heroin addiction. In methadone therapy, the person goes to a clinic and receives the medicine in liquid form. I receive my medicine in 10 mg tablets. I don't suggest using another persons pain meds. It's highly potent stuff and if taken often enough and then stopped, you will experience some wicked withdrawal symptoms.

Methadone is an opiate drug. Methadone is an opiate derivative and is usually prescribed for patients trying to get over an opiod addiction. It has a longer duration of action, so you need to be really careful with this medication, and only take it once a day. It is not safe to be taking someone's medication, so if you are going to take it (because it is a strong pain killer) do not drive, and research a little on the drug before you decide to take it.

methadone was developed to jet junkies off of heroine. It's basically the same as heroine, but you take it orally and it's clean and regulated. "Methadone maintenance" clinics exist in many cities, with the eventual goal of getting the junky off the methadone too...unfortunately, over time we have found that it does not work. People stay hooked on the methadone, and figure out ways to still use heroine, sell their methadone, etc.
Yes, it will take your pain away like nothing you've even taken....physical pain, emotional pain...all gone, and you want to do it again, but never experience that same feeling you got the first time.
Don't take the narcotics kid!

Methadone is a narcotic used for heroin withdrawl, and pain relief also. First, it can make you really sick when first taking it, it is physically addictive in a very short amount of time. Used wisely and safely, pain can be controlled with this drug. It is not a drug to mess around with to get high, it is quite powerful, and frankly illegal for your coworker to be sharing. It's difficult to believe that you have never heard of it before? I hope you didn't take it.

Main Entry: meth·a·done
Pronunciation: 'me-th&-"dOn
Variant(s): also meth·a·don /-"dän/
Function: noun
Etymology: methyl + amino + diphenyl + -one
: a synthetic addictive narcotic drug C21H27NO used especially in the form of its hydrochloride for the relief of pain and as a substitute narcotic in the treatment of heroin addiction

I would not recommend taking it. It's like a barbiturate and I don't know if two could mess you up or not but I strongly recommend like the girl said and throw them away.

Flush it immediately. Its not a pain killer ask a local druggist. I got info. from one of my Docs. methadone is a man - made non sterile recreational drug (DRUG COMPANY'S DO NOT MAKE THIS TRASH) to make people get higher than Cocaine! It has never been used in the medical field EVER! It treats nothing no illness on nothing. Go to the library and look up the drug tn the latest PDR (Physicians Desk Referance) Hint, it's not in there. Your friend is lower than dirt to have given you that stuff.

It is used for pain, and it is a really good pain reliever. My Dr gives it to me to manage severe head aches.

If your not use to taking narcotics then you better only take one of the 10 mg tabs, but if you take narcotics on a regular basis then you can go ahead and take two of them.

Hope this was helpful !

Synthetic heroin, It is used primarily by junkies to wean off of real heroin. Wasn't aware it was available in pill form for pain relief. I would be careful.

Do NOT take it. As the person before stated, it's used to treat heroin addiction - and it too can be addictive.
