There are a couple ways, but the best way is to get in touch with other homeschooling parents. Not only will they help keep you legal and unharrassed, but you can then share classes with them. Maybe one parent coaches baseball, another's a whiz at teaching math, a third can teach oil painting. You can go it alone, but why should you?

is a pretty good site to tell you what you need to do and who to contact. Seeing as you move around a lot, a Charter will probably not work for you, as the laws about charters limit them to what school districts they can locate in.

In California you have several options. Here is the Home School Legal Defense Association's Breakdown of homeschooling laws in California.

You really, really have to ask yourself if you're prepared to do this. You need to be very organized and knowledgeable. A public school may offer her more stability than you can at this point, even if you move a lot. Yes, learn about it, maybe even try it, but also be prepared to admit that you have other things you need to deal with. Frankly, for you it may help you a bit if you can be without your daughter for part of the day so that you can accomplish things you need to do to get your own life in order.

Congratulations! You've decided to take your daughter's education into your own hands! I think this could be a spectacular new start for you and your daughter. Homeschooling is a great idea!

In the United States, homeschooling is absolutely legal! In California, you must provide "attendance" reports (as if she wouldn't show up to her own home one day - lol!) and have her take a few state provided standardized tests, but other than that, it's all up to you!

Good luck! I hope this works out well for you and your daughter!
