This December I went over my friends house, who had a Wii, n convinced me it was awesome. Like an idiot i believed him(he is almost always wrong) n begged my parents for a Wii for christmas. When I saw I got one I flipped out! But when I played it, I found out it was NOTHING like my friend said. Now I have to ask my parents to return it because I dont want them to waste money, but I dont want to hurt their feelings that I didnt like their present. I dont want to hurt them but I dont want them to waste money. WHAT SHOULD I DO!

I'd let your parents know as soon as possible. They may still have the recipt and the store may still take it back. I'm sure they'll understand, most parents are the most forgiving people around (and that's because they love their kids). It's a great learning experience (hope you learned something) and you can present it that way. Next time, check out the reviews of the expensive products you hear about! Do this soon, as some stores won't take back a product after 30 days...

On the grand scheme of things this is not a huge prob.
start with the truth. tell them that you know all the trouble they went through and that you feel bad haveing to say this but that you really hate to see that kind of money being wasted. They care enough tom go through all the hastle of finding the wii over x-mas so they must love you enough to apreciate your regret in this matter. You also seem to have alot of respect 4 your parents so it seems to me that they will take it in stride. Good luck and don't be so willing to follow the PACK! next time! GOAGA J

Dude don't listen to courtney you should tell your parents to take that thing back right away. If you don't like it it's just a waste get something you will like (I'm holding out for a ps3) but just dont keep it your parents will be happier that you told them rather than it just sitting there. If it's too late to take it back to the store then you can sell it to regain some of the money (e_bay, craigslist, news paper, etc).

Tough one - I feel for you. You might wanna start hitting some sites that are technically sound. I hit on PC Magazine which does some good tests and posts their results.

Once you become more tech-savvy, you'll be awesome.

As for your parents, I really like the way you feel about their feelings and the fact that you don't want them to waste their money. Personally, I'd show them what you just wrote. It's from your heart and it's the truth. You put those two undeniable powers together, and they slay dragons.

Cheers,

My son got a wii system and loves it. Heck I love it. Depends on the games you like. We downloaded the old Mario games and donkey Kong for the whole family. He like them but has his other preferences the newer games. If my soon didnt like it. I would want him to tell me the sucker cost almost $300.00 plus trhe games. If you can't be honest with this, whats going to happen when the real HUGE problems in life come up? You must be able to communicate with your parents about your life in general. We might look dumb, but kiddo we been there done that. I am sure that they asked for something they didnt like as kids. BE HONEST always with your parents.

from what i understand ,those things were hard to come by at christmas.they may have gone through alot to get it.perhaps you would consider telling them you would like to see them use at least part of the refund money on themselves.they may not do it ,but it may soften the blow if they are hurt if all they are out is the money, and they can get a refund,no big deal, but if they had to go through a hassle to get it, they might be a little hurt. either way,im sure they will be proud of you for being so thoughtful. take them to dinner with some of the money. you are a nice person

I've never been in this situation but I think yourparents would respect you for telling them that you really don't care for the wii like you thought you would & if they could get the refund or exchange it fr something else. I personally think that's mature of you to not want to waste your parents money, you sound like a good kid.

I'm sure they didn't want to see you wasting your life on the Wii and video games anyways.

Tell your parents that you were out of your mind, and realized that video games are not for you, and you have found other interests like working on cars, or farming.

tell your parents the truth...just say i appreciate the gift but its not what i expected .i would like to return it and get something i might like...if they love u unconditionally they should understand ..they would want you to be happy ..i would hate to know that my son was playing with something he didnt care for .if u return it and get something else the money isnt wasted ..you are just replacing one item with another .. tell them how you feel .if u cant talk to them write them a letter

Say that it wasn't what you thought it was going to be. It's the Wii's fault, not theirs. If you asked for it in the first place then they won't be hurt. It's things like sweaters made just for you that you have to pretend to like.
