A few lab questions:

The fist question I have is about my lab pup and her whimpering. We can not figure out why she is always whimpering. She is so good with house training and doesnt go in the house. It could happen right after we walk her. Sometimes she cries by the front door or at random times. We don't know why. Do pups cry when they teeth?
Also, She drinks sooo much water. If fwe left out a bucket of water she would drink the whole thing.

I have a 4 year old lab, so I went through the whole thing you are going through and actually still am, because it sounds like she just wants attention and thats why she whimpers. More than likely if she is next to the front door she might just want to go outside. I noticed when my lab was real young he might have to go just a few minutes after taking a big drink of water. Also remember labs love attention, play with her inside a little and after a while she might not whimper as much.

The whimpering... you dog just miss's you, or is lonely
As far as too much water..What to do? A fresh sample of urine and your vet can test the urine, possible run a blood test and xray to get a diagnosis. Most of the above diseases are treatable.

How much water should a dog or cat drink?

Adult dog - drinks one ounce per pound per 24 hours.

Puppy, kiten or adult cat - drinks one and one half ounce per 24 hours
Drinking too much water (and urinating too much) is called polyuria poludyssia or PU/PD. This external sign can be the result of several diseases:
1) Bladder infection called cycstitis
2) kidney infection called pyelonephritis
3) bladder stones called uroliths (4 types)
4) diabetes mellitus - not enough blood insulin causes too much blood glucose or sugar in the urine.
5) diabetes insepides - not enough ADH, a hormone responsible for concentrating urine.
6) medullay washout- simply drinking too much water.

my saint bernard was the same way with the water, he's three and still hasn't outgrown it. I wouldnt be too concerned, but when u see the vet, its always good to mention it. My saint did cry a bit when he was teething as a pup , get her some teething bones and see if it helps.

you might try feeding the puppy ice cubes or crushed ice to stop the drink of water to fast. she sounds like she wants you to spend more time with her. You might get her check out by your vet just to make sure there is no problems.

She might be whining because she wants outside or because she wants attension, but talk to her and ask her and I know that sounds funny but sometimes they acknowledge your question. She sounds like she is one thirsty girl but I don't think there is anything wrong with that and she might have ran around and that might be why she is so thirsty.
