Yes I would actually.. If an Atheist intends on lying, Id imagine he wouldnt have a problem swaring on the Bible because he doesnt plan on being truthful. If He refused to though, that shows credibility because he wouldnt feel right about doing something dishonest in the first place. This would be the same with a Muslim as well.
If it was me who was going to testify, and they handed me a Qu'ran to sware on, I wouldnt care if I had no intentions of telling the truth. If I DID intend on being truthful, I'd demand a Bible.

yeah. Even though people swear on the Bible they can still lie. the same goes for any other swearing. The opposite is true too. Some people swear on the Bible and tell the truth. Just cause it's not the Bible doesn't make them any less credible. <><

To be honest, I really dont understand the whole meaning. They lie any way, doesnt do much good, and as a christian I strongly believe God, and religion should be seperate from government and our money. We live in a society with so many culutres, beliefs and ways of life, and if a witness did not want to swear on the bible, that would not discredit them, in my eyes anyway. I would not want to swear on the khoran, since I am not muslim.

You can only swear on what you believe in. The Bible says "Let your yes be yes and your no be no." For me, a Christian, I would accept people at their word, whether they be Christians, Muslims, Atheists because they have to lie or tell the truth with their own conscience, if they don't answer to a higher power.
Me? I have to answer to God, but I wouldn't think of forcing you to do the same.

No one would have to refuse to swear on any religious text because it isn't required. Therefore the question is moot. If it were required, then I have no doubt that Christians would doubt the credibility of anyone who refused to do so. But it isn't. Just raise your right hand and swear to tell the truth or, if swearing bothers you for some reason, just raise your right hand and promise to tell the truth.

Well honestly I do not care what anyone swears on I suppose Swearing on a book that is not Holy really doesn't matter then I guess.
I would look at the evidence and logically decide for myself what I believe the truth to be.
That is how i deal with most things. Logically.

There are courts that do not require anyone to give oath on the Bible. I would pay attention to their facial expression, their tone of voice, and other signals to see if they were lying. I would not base it on the fact that they did not want to put their hands on the Bible... I rather they didn't use the Bible anyways because that would be a lie for someone who doesn't believe in it to take oath on it.

i'm a Christian, and have self belief that we've not got any business enterprise consigning human beings to Hell. How can one sinner probably condemn yet another? by using ways, i don't belittle the Latter-Day Saints or different people who have not got self belief as I do. I even have many atheist, Jewish, Muslim, and Pagan acquaintances and co-workers. If human beings do not proportion my ideals, it fairly is their spectacular. i'm a Catholic, so particularly for sure, i don't bypass around Catholic-bashing, as you advise on your question. I even have certainly regarded at myself, and that i see lots of fault there. some distance too lots to bypass around performing conceited and judgmental approximately others. I even have heard from the pulpit many cases that we are to never damn human beings to Hell, and that i've got self belief that. Why could I even % to do certainly one of those element interior the 1st place?

Yes. I'd prefer the witness swear on something they really believed in, something that would make them feel bound to tell the truth.
