Are you for or against? You didn't mention that.
I don't mind immigrants as America is a land of immigrants. I mean that every one of us has a heritage in another country. My family came from Canada. I only wish that ppl would be decent and come here legally.
what is the big deal with becoming legal? Is there something that would stop them or stand in the way of becoming legal?
Or do they just want to live here with all the rights and none of the responsiblity?
But you could say that we can't take care of the world.
You could say 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do'
That they should get jobs, pay taxes, and struggle like the rest of us. They shouldn't get off easy becuase they were born in another country.
For example many ppl live here, pay taxes, ect. and aren't entitled to even HALF of the benfits that illegals get.
If they want this country so bad, why not do it legally? If their own country is as bad as they claim why not become legal?
If their country is really as bad as they claim, how do so many stay there without complaint?
Many from America go to other countries to live with those laws.
I am not totally happy with everything my country leaders do, but...I still stay.
Illegals want to come and get the benefits at our expense! They have no health insurance.. so if one should get sick and need medical care.. who pays? Americans!
Other countries have this same problem. It is not unique to America. So one would ask, why America over some other country? What does America offer that others do not?
I also heard on CNN that Bush now wants to give all illegals social security benefits and they only have to earn 1/2 the credits that the rest of us do!

I think you should run with your topic on organ donation. Wherever there's more than one point of view, there's an argument waiting to happen. Without knowing what drew you to the topic in the first place, it's tough to give a solid recommendation, but we can still brainstorm! Some ideas: 1. Did you know that registered organ donors are still required to inform their families? Unless you make your wishes absolutely clear to your immediate family, they have the ability to override you. 2. Why is it forbidden for organ recipients to meet with the donor's family, even out of gratitude? There are strict rules that prevent this, but is it fair? It's also possible to look at the politics of organ donation itself. For example, 3. Who gets to go on the top of the list? People who have been waiting longer or people in critical care? Who should make the call, doctors or hospital administrators? 4. Do organs only go to the insured? If you're into doing something a little off the beaten path, try looking into the creative side. For example, there are a number of urban myths about organ donation that might be fruitful for argument: 5. Are people randomly drugged and operated on to steal kidneys (like the urban legend of the guy who wakes up in a tub full of ice)? If so, what does this say about the donor organ black market? 6. China is known to be a chief source of black market bio tech due to their large population and relatively sparse accountability. Is this just another entry on the list of their human rights violations? Or is this a byproduct of some other economic and social problem? Lastly, there are a number of oddball arguments to make about organ donation that aren't covered yet. 7. Stem cells can be harvested during pregnancy and after. Does this count as an organ donation? 8. What are the possibilities involved in creating artificial organs instead? We have artificial hearts, for example, what would it take to make a cost-efficient artificial lung or kidney? 9. Cryogenic labs offer discounts on pre-harvesting. This is when a donor gives up blood and organs in anticipation of a future problem. Ideally, if I've already put a kidney in storage and had it frozen, they can thaw it out and use it for my medical emergency or for a family member after I'm gone. What are the issues involved in a pre-emergency self-donation, or a post-mortem frozen organ inheritance? 10. Should we invest more medical research money into making viable alternatives to traditional organ donation, i.e. finding ways to make animal parts compatible, cloning regular human parts, or investing in stem cell research to regrow damaged organs? From a pure business standpoint, which is the *best* expenditure? Other than that, just have some fun with it. Trust me when I say that English teachers would rather see a clear thesis with a non-conventional argument than anything else--especially if it seems like the student was passionate about the topic and invested some time into it.

How about reinterpreting the 14th Amendment to end anchor babies. Specifically this clause
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside."
It was put in the Constitution so that slaves were not denied citizenship. Some court decided that if you are born here, you are a citizen, even if your mother is an illegal. This is insane.
Liberals have reported me and gotten me suspended for using this term at least once. Shows what they think about this.

Maybe you could compare it to what happened to our country in the Civil War. How opposing attitudes towards domestic issues split us apart brother to brother, father to son, and so on. For it is doing that and something should be done before it gets out of hand. Talk about some alternatives to the growing hostility. What fuels, what doesn't. For example, a person above found fault with when a baby is born here it is automatically an American citizen. How perhaps does she think she got automatic citizenship? She was born here.

FYI,
Illegal aliens do vote. It is illegal to ask for proof of citizenship when they register.. It is illegal for them to vote and it is illegal for them to register to vote but then again it is ILLEGAL for them to be here. Do you really think they mind breaking another law?

How about starting with; These people are total PIGS. Why should we allow them in our country when they have already trashed the country they left behind. These people don't care where they throw there trash, they discard there used toilet paper on bathroom floors, they bathe at public swimming pools, beach's lake's etc. The neighborhoods they take over they ruin, old tires, junk cars garbage and trash everywhere. I constantly see these people throwing trash out there windows of there cars. They don't care!

You might mention, one reason we have so many illegals is that it's almost impossible and sometimes it is impossible for foreigners to come here, even to visit. The embassy's think they have a pre-conceived notion of staying here indefinitely and reject their applications. I know this from talking to many Asian people on the net.
