There is an organization called model mugging and they have several "travelling" classes. They periodically arrive at various martial arts schools, universities, gyms, etc. I have been involved in martial arts for 26 years and have never seen a better 1 day course in how to defend yourself. Learning to use martial arts to defend yourself takes a long time and lost of practice. Most other self defense schools have one guy stand there and hold a hand out like he's punching, then you pretend to jack him up. Model mugging is very different. They get a guy in this big padded suit and helmet and he will run up and scream in your face and call you names and act like he is really going to assault or rape you and you have to use the knowedge you gain from class to mess the guy up. It teaches you to deal with your fear and it teaches you to make full contact with your techniques. Very powerful stuff. I'm sure you can locate them on the internet.
