Ah....I wouldn't. Why risk burning the house down? Get it fixed ASAP or buy a new oven.

I only ever include baked potatoes in a meal if I have the oven on for other uses. Like baking or a stew or a roast. I consider it a gross waste of energy to put an oven on just to bake one or two potatoes. Not only is it bad for the planet, it is an expense I cannot afford any more. My family and I love the crunchy skin of a baked potato, so the microwave version is not an option. I have found that baked potato consumption has gone down since I started making potato skins and potato wedges instead. They save a lot of time and energy. Another example of where "time is money"! LOL!

what you have here is a potentially dangerous situation, the electric stove has voltage in the standby stage(best way i could put it) on one side of the elements, so that's 110 volts, when you turn the switch it allows the full 220 volts to go through. if the melted burner/element comes into contact with the metal part
of the stove it will complete the circuit causing a big problem for anyone touching it. stop using it until it is repaired for you're protection against electrical shock.

did it catch fire from using it? If so, then I think not. If it caught fire some other way...well...i may try to turn it on, but have a fire extinguisher with me and be watching it until it seems okay. How did it catch fire? I would think the broiler element would be just fine if it's not connected to the other one. I've never heard of a baking element catching fire! strange!

NO! You risk another fire, to say nothing of possible serious injury and death! Have a qualified technician replace the element or replace the entire oven. Don't you have fire insurance?

Broiler can be used with no problem. It is a separate element from the bottom. The bottom element , providing it still produced heat can be used but should be replaced. Once elements go dead, they cannot generate heat.

There is a big differents between melted and burned. Melted it would be flatend more then the rest of it and then the answer is NO. Burned then yes. Burned it'll be Black and after you clean it it'll still be black, but not as much. Also sinse its an electrical oven DONT touch it unless its unpluged.

I wouldn't... that happened to ours and the element would not even heat anymore. We had to get it replaced... probably safer if you do that.
