I believe that God the Father chose to create the Messiah as a male human baby, I believe Jesus chose the 12 Apostles who were men to give the authority of His Church and the power to forgive sin.
I believe God the Father chose to give women the ability to nurture and birth children in the flesh.
Altar boys were created in the Middle Ages as an apprentice program for young men into the ordained priesthood. I believe that this apprentice program should be encouraged even today.
Since girls can not ever become ordained priest, the altar server programs with young girls does a disservice of confusion for them. There are many other gifts that young girls could do for the community.

Feeding the multitudes has nothing to do with the Mass or the priesthood.
The reason there are no female priests is because when God created humanity, he created man first, and gave man the primary responsibility for interfacing with his creator, and for following the laws that would eventually be set down solely for man's benefit.
This made the lines of responsibility absolutely clear, at least up until relatively recent times, so everyone could know exactly what there responsibilities were, without confusion.
When Jesus walked the earth, and even though he included many women as disciples, he specifically excluded women from the role of apostle and priest.
If any woman was qualified to be a priest, it would have been the Blessed Virgin Mary, but that is certainly not the case.
The church understood this as evidence of a divine preference in these priestly matters, a preference that was clear from the beginning, and which included Adam, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, and the entire o.t. Levitical priesthood, Joshua, Samuel, David, Solomon, and many others, and now carries over into the new testament priesthood as well.
Women play an equal, but much different role in God's scheme of things.
When men exhibit the ability to conceive and carry an infant to term, then perhaps women might be considered for the priesthood.
But it's much more likely that Christ will come again, before that happens.

1) There were women and girls, Midge....they just were not counted.
2) No - the reason for only male acolytes is because, along with Porter, Reader and Exorcist..."Acolyte" was the first of the "Minor Orders". Holy Orders, leading to Priesthood, are reserved for males only.

All religions until very recently didn't include women in the hands-on part of the service.
Remembering that according to the bible all of the Apostles were men.
