Who knows what goes in a dog's mind! They are loud, large, and probably positively horrifying for Toby! My Welsh Corgi was terrified of doors. You had to hold it open all the way and not let it close at all or she wouldn't go through it. Sometimes even her favorite treats couldn't persuade her to go through the door. As for ways to help him, when you're home that is, hold him close to you, speak softly to him, and pet him gently. I don't believe there's anything you can do for him while you're away. Why the garbage truck? I don't know. Why you? Don't ask. Why your poor pooch Toby? Nada. Just take what you've got and make him feel as at home and comfortable as possible!

hi The call "Jack Russell" has been used over the years to describe plenty of small white terriers, yet now after a drawn out legal conflict the JRTCA (Jack Russell Terrier club of u.s.) and its acquaintances have gained the unique rights to apply the call Jack Russell Terrier to describe their specific version of the canines. This canines is often perplexed with the Parson Russell Terrier.

Terriers are usually not afraid of anything. Would it be possible that someone from a garbage truck kicked him? Possibly try to take him for a walk and sooth him by showing him that it won't harm him.

well, when it comes around he might be afraid because maybe he isn't used ot having a huge black loud thing come tearing down the street. what i suggest is put him in a bed room or bathroom where it is quiet and he cannot hear the garbage truck. then sit with him and talk to him quietly and gently in a soothing voice and he should be over it in a few weeks

Garbage Trucks can be very loud and very large. I could almost guarantee it's the noise.

because he's a little guy, & the garbage truck is big, noisy, & smelly, & your dog doesn't understand that its not going to hurt him.
(unless he runs out in front of it, that would not be good!)
All you need to do is stay calm & ignore the garbage truck, your dog should take his cue from you.

because they are big and loud. My dog is afraid of them to. But since it only comes around once a week I just make him deal with it.
