I have a relative that has joined the Marines but is being hazed every night due to a sleeping issue. He has a problem waking up AND he snores, therefore his "comrades" thought it would be funny to beat him every night while he is asleep. Yes, it's a real medical condition. Some say, "hazing makes a man out of you". I say it makes enemies and cowards of the other marines since he is no condition to fight back. Any thoughts?

His commander has expressly stated that he doesn't want to hear anything about hazing, so he can't trust them.

REPORT IT. Hazing in the military is illegal and potentially fatal for your relative. Taking a beating does not make a man out of you.

Whatever you do, don't listen to Doc... you calling the CO is going to create more issues and quite frankly it's not your place. Your husband should be dealing with this on his own, not blabbing it to you and waiting for you to take care of it. Direct the member to military one source if he's not comfortable making official records of the depression with the Chaplain or Hospital (Chaplains do not have the same sanctity of their regular church counterparts). Onesource is all anonymous reporting and referrals and he can get help in a non attribution manner for now. That should get the wheels turning if he'd be resistant to going in. As for the hazing, there is no rank issue on what a member can do. Your hubby needs to man up and take care of it. There's an EOP office on every base and they can take care of it quickly if someone has the integrity to report it. That will work if he's not willing to do the simple, correct thing and intervene when he sees it happening. Character and Rank are not conflicting entities.

Ok look i dont like what are his comrades doing to him cause that will bring team work down but if he falls sleep in the battle field and snores he will give out their position. But also he has no conditon to figth back why dosent he just quit the marines and become a cop.

He's keeping these other Marines up at night when they should be getting rest so they can defend us. He should be getting hazed a hell of a lot more, his snoring is becoming a threatt to our national security

It wll stop, but only when the lads get a new target, then he should be within the group. Sounds a bit more severe than our antics in the British Army but if its that bad he needs to transfer to another regiment or platon. Won't be welcome in that regiment again if he does tho,

Contact your Senator. Been there, done that, no fun. Don't wait till they tell him his parents are both dead. Don't wait til they beat him within a inch of his life in front of all on the deck. Doctor, Lawyer Priest. Then discharge. Sad but true.

Report it to his comanding officer. It's not going to stop unless some action is taken and he can't do much about this while he is sleeping. Good luck.

I thought the marines had gotten past that sadistic crap, but evidently not. Have his mom write their Congressman.

Most Marines are closet homos & need hazing to get that close contact they need, your relative must look good in his undies...
