Does anyone know if there is a marine corp order that states anything about if you stand duty at the barracks or OD duty if you have work the next day, you work for half a day ?

At my shop, if you had duty all night at the barracks or OD and the next day you had work,, they would secure you at 1200 for the rest of the day. Now we have a new GySgt and he told us that we arent going to get half days anymore.

I cant find any marine corp order stating that we are entitled to get off at 1200.

Sorry, no MCO on the subject. It'll be in your Battalion Duty Order. Of course if you stood duty already you must have written "I have read and understand all orders pertaining to my post." So does the order specify it or not? You should already know. If it doesn't specify you get a half day (or a full day) off it's leaders discretion. I guess in your case you don't.

First of all if you mean OOD then that would mean youre an Officer so you can go anytime you want and a Gunny Cant stop you. Now if you are A NCO and were the NCO of the day or duty NCO then that means you had a Non NCO with you. Then you should make sure you guys split the night between each other. i.e. 4 onn 4 off. so that way you can rest. Now if you were on a Division Post then you might de the NCO of the day while having a Officer of the day with you. In that case you guys should have rotated. If not then that sucks. And you didnt get enough sleep. You get 1 and a half hours for chow. You should try getting some sleep then. If not dont woory too much about it. You just dont get a half day and thats that. Dont go trying to look up any order on it. You will only hurt yourself with you platoon. Leaders do not like Marines who try to question there authourity through Marine Corps Orders. Marines dont worry about getting a half day after a night of duty. My guess would be that you were not awake for 24 hours. So no there isnt anything saying you or any other Marine rates a half day. Sorry. Youre in the Corps now. I dont think youve been over seas yet. I was A PFC guarding a Ammo Supply Point a few years ago in a place far away. I never got to sleep. I was the Corporal of the Guard the next time and got even less sleep. And the Next time I got even less sleep. And Probably this next time Ill get even less sleep. So Sorry about you not getting a Half day. And I hope youre never in Iraq standing post. I wouldnt want any sleepy Marines watching my butt. I dont mean to be such an ****** but come on Devil Dog!!!
OOOOOORAHHHH!!!!!!

thats was the old policy under your previous Gunny. the new one doesn't have to continue that policy.

Naval personnel don't get half days off just because they had Mid Watch. In fact, many a time was that they stood watch, and then worked all day before standing another one.

Nice try. That's why the military isn't hourly or union. You work 24/7/365. Comp time? Hahaha! Only if you have a commander with a heart !

your in the marines, you must follow orders. if they tell you to work for 48 hours straight you do it, if they tell you to go home after 15 minutes you do it. i was in the air force for 8 years, and once during a snow storm i had to work straight for 4 days no time off over a weekend, i still had to work all week long too, who are you going to complain to you'll just make matters worse, do you time and then get out, i did

That why it call DUTY.......not 9 to -5er.....come on you not on duty all night.....maybe your watch balls to 4......but if you can't stand a 24 hr duty (that being one place for 24hrs) and work a full next day . You need to go to IRAQ that way you appreciate being able to stand duty and go HOME after you work...... are you sure a Marine?

You can't find it because it doens't exist. If you recieved half days before, that was freaking awesome but it's not policy.
