I am shipping on 20 Feb for bct. My mos is 68w. Yesterday I was contacted by a special investigator for a security clearance interview. Does anyone know why a medic would need a secret clearance. I am worried about this because I couldn't get the job I wanted in the first place because of a clearance(MP). I have a misd. charge and that disqualified me for that job. If I don't get the clearance what will happen to me? Has this happened to anyone else? I have never heard of someone having this interview before they shipped except for intel jobs and the like. Please advise.

A misdemeanor isn't necessarily disqualifying for a secret clearance. It could depend on what the charge was.

The reason you didn't qualify for MP may have been that any criminal history could disqualify you for a law enforcement job, also depending on the charge.

I wouldn't worry about it, interviews for a secret clearance are a piece of cake.

Because while treating patients you may come across sensitive information, such as whether we are fighting somewhere that we are not publically supposed to be, or you may come across sensitive information like which soldiers have debt or substance abuse problems (i.e. potential blackmail recruitment to spy)

Maybe you should ask your recruiter. If you don't want to talk to him/her about it though, go to goarmy.com, you can chat live with one w/o giving your identity.
