Hypoallergenic dogs are ones that shed less, have less dander, and possibly have less of a chance to bother people with mild allergies. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A NON-ALLERGENIC DOG!!! Each person is different, so their reactions to dog breeds are different. Almost all puppies seem to be hypoallergenic, but as they grow and mature, this will change! So the best thing to do, is see how you will react to adult dogs of different breeds.

Most of what we hear is fiction! Here are some websites with facts:

I've got asthma and allergies and I got a poodle. I got her long after I started to have respiratory problems. She doesn't seem to cause any allergic reactions and she never sheds. Poodle hair just keeps growing so you will have to take it to the groomer.
Also, poodles are very very smart.

I have heard poodles are hypoallergenic and so are Basenjis They don't shed, smell like dogs or bark. They do yodel and are stubborn destructive little boogers though. If you train them right they are good loving little dogs.

usually people with allergic reactions to dogs get the non-shedding type of dog such as poodles, schnauzers, Chinese crested, etc. these dogs have to be groomed though so make sure you understand this before you get one.

My grandson cannot be in the same room with a dog, his eyes begin to swell shut. We have a Pekingese poodle mix and he doesn't bother him. Our dog is more poodle.

It's probably the dander you're allergic to, which means your pet can't have hair. So that only leaves the hairless cat (like the one in Austin Powers).
I think.

I have a miniature maltese. These dogs don't shed. I think that any small dogs that don't shed are good.
