I took my dog to the vet for her last set of vaccinations and it included rabies. Well after being home for a half hour my puppy's face swelled up and she began having problems breathing. What can I give her to alleviate the problem. Should I take her to the vet?

I left YA open when I left to the vet. I need to apologize to all who answered this question, my son thought it would be funny to ask this question to see what people's answer would be. I told him it wasn't funny to make me look stupid. But any how it was done so I will tell you I have never had this happen before with any of my previous or current dogs but the breeder did warn me about this being common with Doxies, as a matter of fact I was told not to vaccinate for Lepto. I did call the vet and they told me to bring her in and they gave her Epinephrine and steriods (I think that is what he said vet has heavy ancent) and gave me some benedryl to give later. Now she is back to her evil little self and she gets to miss obedience class.
Thanks to all who took the time to answer.
I have to say I really liked the motor oil answer next time I will give it a try. LOL

I would call the vet first. It was my experience once and she ordered Benedryl. The dog was fine in about 15 mins. Now it is OTC back when I had this problem it was by Rx only. She just called my local pharmacy and they had it ready when I got there. Call first, you would have to anyway to tell them your on your way in.

Give her Benedryl (dosage is 1 mg per pound, but if she is over 44 lbs just give her 2 tablets) and then go to the vet NOW. She is probably having some sort of reaction to the shots.
The Benedryl will help keep the swelling from progressing as much, but you need to get her to the vet.

Get her to the vet, ER if needed. I have heard of several dogs having reactions to the newer Lepto vaccines.

Take her back to the vet immediately. It sounds like an allergic reaction to the vaccinations. Dogs can become allergic to vaccinations even if they have had them before. Do not wait, Take her now!

I would drop everything and take her in right away. It sounds like she's having a severe allergic reaction. Poor Baby! I hope she's ok! Good Luck!

Take her back or a pet emergency room, it sound like she is having an allergic reaction. Don't waste any time, it could be life threatening.
