I'm running on a relay team and this is my first time running a 1200. I run a 6:10 mile and my best 800 is a 2:50. If anyone has run this event before and knows a good time or spilts let me know. Thanks.

i'm guessing you're running the distance medley.
i run a 6:11 mile, so we're about the same speed. in my last race, my split at 1200 m was a 4:42, but since it was the mile, you'd certainly go faster than that.
i think if you hit a 4:30 to 4:35, that's pretty good. look at your last splits from the mile and try to guess off of that.

Judging by your 800 and 1600 times, I'd say you are a better long-distance runner than middle-distance. A 4:30 1200 would be right on 6:00 mile pace so I think that would seem like a good goal. I assume you're in a DMR otherwise you wouldn't be running the 12. If you are, you'll be starting off the relay for your team and the races tend to go out FAST so be careful. Good luck!

Ive never ran a 1200 meter before but if you run a 6:10 mile youll probably be in the mid-high 4 minute range. Why dont you go run it a few times and then set a goal for yourself once you know your starting point.

a good time is prob in the mid 5's for the 1200 and mid to low 2's for the 800

Hey, well you're a pretty good runner!!! I run a 6:12 mile and I'm also on a relay team. 4:10 is already pretty good for 1200m ...Anything better than that is REALLY GOOD.

Right around 4 minutes, give or take.
