This one does....but I'm not certain of the context of your question....He came to be much more than just an "example".

First Peter 2:21-25 says, "You have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls."

There are several passages in the New Testament Gospels that give support to that. However, I think this is what you are really looking for, or at least this is what I hope you are looking for.

In the notes in my bible for verse 53 of Luke 24, it says the following:

Luke's Gospel portrays Jesus as the perfect example of a life lived according to God's plan-- as a child living in obedience to his parents and yet amazing the religious leaders in the temple, as an adult serving God and others through preaching and healing, and finally as a condemned man suffering without complaint. This emphasis was well suited to Luke's Greek audience, who placed high value on being an example and improving oneself, and who often discussed the meaning of perfection.

As believers, living according to God's plan, we too should obey our Lord in every detail as we seek to restore peoples bodies and souls to the health and salvation God has in store for them. If we want to know how to live a perfect life, we can look to Jesus as our example.

John 13:15
"For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you."
1 Timothy 1:16
Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.
1 Peter 2:21
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps,

Just to name a few.

Jesus enlisted His disciples with the invitation, “Come, follow Me.” His call made a powerful impact on them. The response of Matthew to that challenging call, for example, was that “he left everything behind, and rose up and began to follow Him” (Luke 5:28, NASB). The Johannine account of the calling of the first disciples (John 1:29-51) makes it clear that in responding to His call the disciples were keenly conscious of the unique nature of the One enlisting them as His followers.

Jesus assumed the position of Leader and Teacher of those who responded to his call. His central position as their instructor and guide was never questioned—his grip upon their hearts and lives left them no other alternative. At the very close of His earthly ministry Jesus gratefully acknowledged their committed relationship to Him: “You call me Teacher, and Lord; and you are right; for so I am” (John 13:13).

If you would like more I can email them to you, but I thought two scriptures would be enough to show you.

"Have among yourselves the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross." - Philippians 2: 5-8

"For even hereunto were ye called; because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps." -1 Peter 2:21

"Take up your cross and follow me."

"I am the way, the truth and the life." (Always badly misinterpreted)

1 Corinthians 11:1 - Paul said "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ."

Peter says something similar: 1 Peter 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

1 Cor 11:1
11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
(from New International Version)

1 Peter 2:20-25
this is commendable before God. 21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

22 "He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth."

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. 25 For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

John 13:12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

He showed us humility.
