I need some ideas on somewhere I can take my girlfriend in Long Beach on Saturday afternoon. We don't want to spend any money right now, so it would need to be free (or virtually free). So no aquarium, Queen Mary, etc.

Any thoughts? Doesn't have to be fancy. We enjoy light hikes through the park, for example, but that's getting predictable.

check out the Long Beach Aqualink
(it departs from the Queen Mary, Rainbow Harbow and Los
Alamatos bay
its only $3.00 each way and you get a great view of the Long beach coast line..
I have inclued links to this service:
http://www.lbtransit.org/Services/Aqualink.aspx
another idea is to take Long beach transit tour -dart bus
(its free)
http://www.lbtransit.org/Services/Tour-DArt.aspx

then LB transit aslo offers a day pass for $2.50 good on all
buses (expect the aqua bus and aqualink)
then if you have a bicycle why not a ride along the Long beach Beach trail? (or you could rent a bicycle)

You might want to look and see what's going on in LB on Citysearch: http://losangeles.citysearch.com and do a search on "Long Beach, CA". Usually there are events that are going on along the beach.

It's a little chilly now, but one suggestion would be to take a walk around Belmont Shore or Pine Ave. There's also The Pike, Shoreline Village, or even the Long Beach Museum of Art.

But, if you don't mind spending money and it warms up a little, an electric boat ride around the Belmont Shore area is a nice suggestion. It's $40 for 3 hrs (I think) and you can take CD's, food, and just cruise around Belmont Harbor.

You can do a search on Boat Rides Seal Beach.

Have fun!

i'd bypass with an really informal gown / skirt outfit, or perchance a stylish searching capri pant outfit that you would possibly want to discover in a dressy clothing portion of a save. remember the sun shades, and only be sure you carry a sweater or some kind of jacket with you. the elements on the sea coast is really unpredictable in the present day of three hundred and sixty 5 days and also you would possibly want to finally end up chilly!

It's not close by, but it's nearly free. The Huntington Library in San Marino.

Or Griffith Park.
