I'm getting addicted to pro mia sites. My bulimia is worsening and I've told my CMHT nurse, but, she just says to tell my dietitician. Should I press for more specialised help as dietiticians aren't trained to deal with the mental health side of it? What should I do? I know I shouldn't go on the sites, but, I have to get more tips on how else to purge. Help please!!! Serious answers only please!!!

O.k firstly I you can, get someone to confiscate your computer access- those sites are killing you! Secondly, you really need to get to a phsycologist and pronto! Usually I'd recomend self help books but it sounds like your kinda beyond that. the sad thing is your probably beautiful and a perfect weight (if not underweight) and chances are our friends and family love you and wnat to help you through this. Get professional help and get it today- YOU MATTER!

It's more of a compulsion then an addiction, though it does lead to negative results.
There are certain clinics, hospitals, rehab centers that deal with Bulimia and eating disorders only, this is where you will get the best answers that you need.
I am not saying that the nurse is not qualified, I am saying that at this moment she is not responding in a way that would help you.
Compulsions are hard to ignore, sometimes you have to chose another thing or compulsion just to avoid the one you are currently dealing with.
We tend to talk ourselves into things and then we cant stop, this is rather normal and rather annoying, sometimes life altering.
Take small steps, tell yourself that you can look at the web site tomorrow but not tonight, then tomorrow you tell yourself to wait intill the afternoon and so on. Trick your brain.. this only works for a short period of time so get ahold of your doctor.

Hi,
I work in the field of addiction, and if I may offer some insight on addiction: This is your life, and you have control over it. Workers might be able to offer advice, but ultimately only you can make this decision-whether to continue accessing these sites or not. Why do you want to stop doing it? And why now? How important is it for you to avoid this behaviour? What would you gain from stopping this behaviour, and what would you gain from continuing? These are self-help questions that might be of assistance to you.
Hope it takes you closer to your goal.

Push for specialised help. CMHTs are pretty stretched so they try and discourage you if you're not too serious but you sound pretty desperate, you have to get them to understand that.

Talk to someone who will listen. Talk to another CMHT. Dont give up on yourself. Dont stop until you get help!

Definitely find a LCSW or psychiatrist or psychologist in your area who can treat eating disorders. Dieticians are trained to help people recover from the "eating" part of eating disorders but not the underlying issues which caused them (psychological).
Here is a referral link. http://www.edreferral.com/

Try to go to a bulimia recovery site. Or you can go to the extreme and knock computers or internet out of your life until you recover.

You need to speak with a behavioral health specialist or a therapist. You need to find out what is triggering this? What is the reasoning behind this besides you wanting to be skinny. You really need to find out more about yourself.
