That was directed to that particular church where the women were interupting services.

And Paul did said a woman should wear a head covering. But if it wasn't the custom of the land then it isn't necessary. It isn't the custome of the land for American women. But women wear headresses if they want to.

How do you know North American women don't know submission to our husbands and headresses in church? I think you're quoting from Ephesians, but I was under the impression that "headressing" referred to keeping our hair long ,as its a glory to us. Most churches don't preach the Bible anymore, that's the problem. God calls us to be submissive to our husbands, but so many women don't understands God's holy word or they don't care.

How come North American men don't heed Paul's words more closely -- you know, the part in Ephesians 5:25a that says, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. . ."

Many of you want submission from your wife, but you're not willing to do the part YOU were commanded to, by loving her and sacrificing yourself for her.

Don't start! The instruction to wives was to be submissive to their husbands. The part that always gets forgotten is that husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Lets see more husbands doing that!

Also, submission doesn't mean you do what your husband says and be his doormat. Rather, it means that you respect a Godly man's role in the home and family.

That is an old tradition that Paul tried very hard to push. But if you read all of the chapter, you will see the Holy Spirit told him to Chill Out! And Paul said the church of God has no such custom.
It's all man's vainglory! Egotism and false pride!

Because Paul never met Jesus. He was sent to show the Christians as heretics but converted instead. He held on to many of the old convent rules despite Christ being the new convent.

The same reason why MEN don't.

;)

Pride.

Men are called to sacrifice thier bodies for the women, like Christ did for the Church. (Like, work hard and support the family.)

There are a lot of North American lazy slobs too.

well, the first thing that comes to my mind is this...we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. If you were a woman who knew the difference then it would be your place to teach the other women how to be virtuous in submission and wearing the head dress. If you know to do good and do it not, then thats a problem eh? So if you are a married man, teach your wife in love and honor of GOD how to live the life of a called out woman..a man's place is to be head of his house, a woman is to learn of her husband and she is to teach other woman how to be obedient submissive holy wives. It is never a woman's place to usurp authority over a man.

Probably because most of us believe that God is more interested in what's in our hearts than what's on our heads.

And "submission?" *snicker* We like to be part of HEALTHY relationships, thank you very much.

Because North America isn't completely taken over by religious fundamentalism and hopefully never will be.
