Hi, was wondering, our family is having a huge party to celebrate my great-grandma's birthday, (like distant relatives we barley know) at our house. Was wondering if anyone has a faveourite cookie recipe they are willing to share, and/or estimate of how much people it could serve.

Can be any type of cookie, brownie, even non-desert cookie. Or you could just say the name of the cookie. Thanks for any help (maybe you can describe the cookie, what it looks like, what it tastes like etc..)

Texas Ranger Cookies are the best cookies to bake. They make a large batch and have a variety of ingredients in them. Also, a very easy cake you can bake is the Chocolate Sheet Cake.

Texas Ranger Cookies

Cream together:

1 Cup granulated sugar 1 Cup Vegetable Shortening
1 Cup Brown Sugar

Add and mix well:

1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt

Measure 2 cups flour, then measure and add to flour:

1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Add to creamed mixture; mix well.

Add:

2 Cups Quick Oatmeal 1 Cup Coconut
2 Cups Rice Krispies 1 Cup chopped nuts

Mix well. Form into small balls. Bake 12 minutes at 350 degree oven. You can substitue Rice Krispies for Corn Flakes.

You know, I'm old enough to remember when everyone baked using real butter and good ingredients not cheap generic stuff. If you've never tasted baked goods like that you can't imagine how much better they are then they stuff you get today.

Whatever you make, use the best ingredients possible.

One of my sisters makes cookies that I actually would walk miles for and be grateful to have them.

Cutout cookies (sugar cookies), rolled thin and baked just until they start to get a little brown around the edges then frosted with homemade frosting made with butter not out of a can! Those truly are a bit of heaven on earth!

Those peanutbutter blossoms - peanutbutter cookies with a Hershey's Kiss pressed into them when they are hot are a cookie that no one can refuse!

And if you've never tasted a pecan dream cookie (sometimes called a Mexican Wedding Cookie), made with real butter you've never really had a cookie. They will actually melt in your mouth. If there is anyone on this planet that can eat just one and walk away I've never seen it. I doubt if it can be done. If I had a choice between having sex with Brad Pitt once or having a plate of those cookies made for me once a week, well, Angelina Jolie has no worries!

I hope your celebration turns out wonderful and everyone enjoys themselves!

COCONUT MACAROONS

GINGERBREAD COOKIES

both of these serve A LOT of people, plus are healthy!

Easy Coconut Macaroons Recipe

Ingredients

3 large egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract (optional)
1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups sweetened flaked coconut (or more as needed)

Directions

Let the eggs sit on the counter for about an hour before separating. Prepare a baking sheet by greasing it very well. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

1. Place the egg whites in a medium bowl and starting at low speed, beat the egg whites until they begin to foam. As the foam continues to build, you can turn the speed to medium and then high. Beat until the foam forms stiff, glossy peaks. Add the extract as desired.
2. With a spatula, fold in the powdered sugar and nuts until just combined. Fold both in together to minimize the handling of the batter.
3. Spoon the batter onto the pan in rounded mounds. The batter should be of a consistency that a spoonful will stand as a mound 3/4-inch high on the pan. If the batter is too thin and tries to run, add more coconut. If the last few cookies are too thin, add more coconut again.
4. Bake for 15 minutes for small- to medium-sized cookies, 18 minutes for larger cookies, or until the cookies are a light brown color.
5. Immediately remove the cookies with a thin metal spatula by slipping the edge of the spatula under the edge of the cookie and sawing back and forth. Cool on wire racks.

the gingerbread recipe is in a book called great gingerbread, by sara perry, and you can make them smaller or add choc chips, etc

also peanut butter blossoms: small pb cookies with a hershey's kiss on top of each

and of course chocolate chip cookies/brownies

I'd go for classic chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin cookies because they are easy and pretty much everyone loves them.
You can also make really jazzy and original cookies by starting with chocolate chip or oatmeal and adding spices, citrus peel or oil, coconut, dried fruit and/or nuts.

I started playing with an oatmeal cookie base 15 years ago and now have a secret recipe cookie that I have a local following for - I sell them at the holidays and have friends and family literally beg me for them. My sister in law called me after Christmas to confess that she had hidden the bag I gave to their family and not ever told my brother they were in the house! I've been calling them 'Secret Treasures' but am thinking of renaming them 'Homewreckers'.

This is my favorite cookie recipe to eat. It's not a pretty cookie, but I love the mixture of tastes and textures. Be sure to use the mini chips, that way you get a burst of chocolate in every bite: Dishpan Cookies 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed 2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 2 cups butter, softened 4 eggs 4 cups all purpose white flour 2 teaspoons baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 1 ½ cups oatmeal 4 cups corn flakes 1 package mini chocolate chips Cream butter, add sugars and mix well. Add eggs and incorporate with vanilla. Add flour, soda and salt. Last, add oatmeal, cornflakes and chocolate chips. If you like nuts in your cookies, 1 1/2 cups of chopped nuts can also be added at this point. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees. Allow cookies to cool 1 minute on cookie sheet before transferring to cooling rack. This is my favorite cookie recipe to bake and give as presents during the holidays: Cake Mix Cookies 1 box cake mix, any flavor ⅓ cup vegetable oil 2 eggs Mix all ingredients well. Add any type of chips or nuts that you prefer. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 - 10 minutes at 375 degrees. Some good combinations: Chocolate cake mix with chocolate chips and chopped nuts Chocolate cake mix with white chocolate chips and nuts Chocolate cake mix with peanut butter chips and chopped peanuts Vanilla cake mix with chocolate chips and chopped nuts Vanilla cake mix with white chocolate chips and chopped macadamia nuts Spice cake mix with finely chopped apples Strawberry cake mix with white chocolate chips (this was an experiment that turned out to be everybody's favorite) Use your imagination -- the possibilities are endless ... and they turn out like designer cookies, which they basically are.

Brown Sugar Cookies:

When real butter and dark brown sugar blend and bake, you get these crisp praline-tasting cookies.

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Decorator sugar

Beat butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy. Gradually add brown sugar, beating well. Add egg and vanilla, beating well.

Combine flour, soda, and salt; add to butter mixture, beating just until blended.

Roll dough to 1/4" thickness between two sheets of wax paper. Cut with 4" cookie cutters. Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Sprinkle cookies with decorator sugar.

Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. Let cookies cool 1 minute on cookie sheets, and carefully transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Yield: about 2 1/2 dozen

This is my favorite cookie! It's really quick and easy to make, and tastes awesome! It's no-bake too!

You need:
2 pounds of white chocolate
1 to 1-1/2 bags of shaved coconut

First, toast the coconut on high in the microwave for about 3-4 minutes or until slightly brown. Then, melt the chocolate in the microwave. Stir in the coconut, and blob with a spoon onto a sheet of waxed paper. Let it cool. Enjoy!
