My sort of ex-girlfriend contacted me, after having disappeared for 8 months, saying that she was pregnant. She is from Lithuania and currently living in Italy and had the baby in November. I am desperate to know if this child is mine, as I have nothing else in my life that I truly value. Can anyone tell me if there is some way for me to find out the truth, as the ex just won't say, but just keeps dangling this beautiful little girl in front of me from afar.

My sort of ex-girlfriend contacted me, after having disappeared for 8 months, saying that she was pregnant. She is from Lithuania and currently living in Italy and had the baby in November. I am desperate to know if this child is mine, as being a Buddhist I have nothing else in my life that I truly value. Can anyone tell me if there is some way for me to find out the truth, as the ex just won't say, but just keeps dangling this beautiful little girl in front of me from afar. I cannot simply insist on dna test, as have no way of forcing the ex to comply and do not want to lose the apparent chance I have to get to know Her in the future.

I hate to say it, but since she fled the country, you will probably have a tough battle on your hands if she doesn't feel like cooperating. You should probably contact a lawyer (which will be costly and aggravating, since this is an international ordeal), because you'll need help to legally compel her to allow you to exercise your rights as a father (if you are the father). In the event that you can persuade her on your own that a paternity test is in the baby's best interests, you can order a kit on-line. All you do is swab the cheek of Mom, potential-dad-in-question, and the baby, then overnight the kit to a lab where they test the DNA & mail you the results. I don't know the cost where you live, but in the USA it's about $100.
GOOD LUCK!!

Run, don't walk to the best attorney you can find who specializes in family law. You need to get a lawyer as soon as possible. It's too difficult to navigate through the legalities in a situation like this on your own. If you truly want to be a part of this child's life, you are going to have to take the proper legal action to insure that can happen before it's too late.

you most certainly can get a paternity test...file through the courts and they will contact her in Italy and demand the baby be tested at a test center in italy then you will be forwarded the results..If this baby comes back not yours, i suggest you break off all ties with this woman as she is obviously trying to "trap" you. If it is yours...then go to the courts and file for joint custody... I appalud you for stepping up and being a possible dad to your little girl good luck

what an evil cow! that little girl is lucky if you are her dad. i'm sure you have other things that are good in your life and it is important to ensure you stay positive for her sake. i'd suggest it is possible she is yours if the woman is still getting in touch with you. but short of asking outright for a dna test then you'll probably never be sure. must be hard for you but hang in there coz if she is yours she'll need to know when she is older that you tried everything you could to build a relationship with her. GOOD LUCK

Ask her to take a dna test if she refuses than you maybe able to take her to court and ask the court to order a dna test. Good luck and I hope this child is yours. You really seem to want to be apart of her life.

Thats sad.
You could get a solicitor involved but that may alienate the mother and cause problems that you don't need right now.

Ask her - tell her that whilst you trust her blah blah you would like to know for certain so that you can make provisions for the child.

Good luck, I hope you get the results that you want.

You are going to have to get yourself a lawyer...it really makes it difficult to do anything from afar. Talk to a lawyer and tell him your situation and where she lives. You should be able to get a court order for her to submit to a dna test.

the only way is for a DNA test. you can offer to go over there and get it done or pay for her ticket to the U.S. for the test. but if she doesn't want to either 1. it's not yours or 2. she doesn't know who's baby it is. if not: JERRY! JERRY!!! (okay forget the last sentence. that show is tooo crazy.) hopefully she will take the test.
good luck

Take a DNA test that would determine if you are the biological father
