My girlfriend recently crashed into an ambulance with her car due to ice on the road. The car is not registered to either of us yet as we had just purchased short while ago. Most of the damage was to her car and the ambulance got a small scratch. The car is insured in my name and this is the second time she has had an accident while driving a car insured by me. It turns out that the paramedic that took the information down didn't get the right policy number or something like that. So I got a call from American medical response asking for that info which I said I would back to them with. My question is should I report this or just ignore their calls? They got her driver license and plates. Is there anything they can do to us if we ignore them?

Yes, they can get the police involved and charge that you gave fraudulent insurance information. It's a crime. I don't think you need anymore trouble than you already have. Don't let her drive any more cars that you have insured.

If you don't give them the insurance number, they can bill you anyways, and then you will be stuck paying the entire damages. They can also sue you for damages if you don't pay. That's what insurance is for; to pay for accidents like this. Your rates might go up, but it beats paying hundreds or thousands of dollars out-of-pocket for damages (yes, it's only a scratch, but even scratches can get spendy to fix).
You are responsible for damages if the car is insured in your name, as far as I know. Next time, be careful about letting someone drive the car if the insurance is in your name. If your girlfriend keeps crashing cars, you might want to make her get her own insurance.

Hope this helps...

Yes, they can pursue a claim against you for the damage to their ambulance. If you avoid them, they'll just file suit against you personally instead of going through your insurer.

You won't be able to hide from the lawsuit. In fact, you'll make it worse by trying to do so.

It's best to let them contact your insurer and perhaps get a claim worked out before it gets to that point.

You might also want to either avoid letting your girlfriend drive your car or make sure that she has her own insurance policy.

If she is on your policy and gets into an even worse accident next time...you could end up getting sued based on her actions.

What if she causes a very serious lifetime injury or worse...kills somebody....they could come after you with a multimillion judgment and once your insurance pays out its limit of $50,000 or whatever....you'll owe the rest personally....which means you could lose everything you own.

That's an awful big risk.

Duh...yes. Ever heard of a thing called a LAWSUIT? If you force the insurance company of the ambulance to handle this claim they will in turn subrogate YOU for the entire amount of repairs. And brother, they do not play around with money. You will get one shot at repayment then you will find yourself facing a judge faster than you can say, "damn, I need a new girlfriend". Just give them the information for God's sake and save yourself a lot of misery. An increase in rates will be chickenfeed compared to court costs, fines and repayment costs.

If I were you, I'd definitely give them the information that they ask for. If not, then they could sue you, and you could possibly get sent to jail. Also, I'd quit paying for your girlfriend's insurance. First of all, you aren't married, so you technically aren't obligated to pay for any of her bills. And, since she is a bad driver, that would make your insurance rates rise, and you will be paying for something that you didn't even do. It seems to me that she knows that you are going to pay for it, so she can drive as bad as she wants and there will be no financial consequence to her. Of course I could be wrong, but that's how it sounds to me. Regardless, you really need to stop paying for her bills. After all, she doesn't pay your bills, does she?

ha... good luck with that (ignoring them.) Right now they are trying to be NICE to go through your insurance. If you deny them the right to do that they will go ahead and take care of their damages... and bill you DIRECTLY for the damages. If you ignore the bills... welp.. then they will move onto the next step. And that is suspending your license/garnishing your wages/etc.

Now do you really think you want to ignore their call?

I wouldn't risk it. If they have info they can sue your butt. for not having insurance. Even if you do. You didn't prove it at the time. Don't play games unless your willing to pay the price. including jail..... being nice may get you further ahead. and I think the real answer to your question is not to let your gf drive for a while

ignoring them would be not be a very wise thing to do. I would say give them the policy number. Wouldn't you bet upset if somebody crashed into your car and gave you a bogus policy number and then dissapear?
That's almost as bad as hit and run.

You're playing a dangerous game. Do the right thing and take responsibility for what happened. Accidents happen but maybe you should try to get your girlfriend to drive a little safer.

First, i'm so sorry to take heed to of this. What a tragedy. i've got self belief your son is sufficiently previous to make the determination for himself. in spite of if he is going he might discover he won't be able to do it and bypass away the room. yet once you carry him returned he might resent you. it fairly is flattering that the family members thinks sufficient of him to ask him to connect them for the period of certainly one of those private, family members difficulty. Edit: i think of Violet has the properly suited concept right here....permit him bypass see her and say see you later yet perhaps not stay for the very end?
