She will never be around any other dogs so I don't see any need and I was told that she will never be able to have puppies,at least without complications, due to her small size. What do I do?

Get her spayed.
It reduces the risk of unwanted puppies
It reduces the risk of uterine and mammary cancers
It reduces the mess of monthly heat.
It limits the number of aggressive male dogs you may meet due to her being in heat.
If you are not going to breed her, get her fixed. You probably have a low-cost spay/neuter program in your area if you are low on funds. If nothing else, think of all the millions of dogs each year that are euthanized because people didn't see the need to spay or neuter.

It is very important to get her spayed..unplanned pregnacy and mess during heat cycles (which by the way only happen twice a year not monthly) is only a small part of the reason to spay.An intact female has a very high risk of mammary cancer, reproductive cancers and a very serious uterine infection which is often fatal called pyometria. These issues are not rare and unfortunately are way too common.
Get her spayed she'll be happier and live a longer healthier life.

There's plenty of need to get her spayed! First of all, it greatly reduces the chances of her getting cancer. And are you seriously not going to take this dog outside for a period of 3 weeks, twice a year? She needs exercise whether she's in heat or not. Plus, she'll mess up the house while she's bleeding, there's plenty of females who go through the trauma of false pregnancies if they're not spayed, there's more reasons, but that should be enough for anyone to do what's best for their dog.

Dogs reach sexual maturity at approx. 6 months, so anytime after 4 months is acceptable. If you don't, any male within a 2 mile radius will drive their owner crazy when your dog is in season. Also, to avoid the mess, you will have to diaper her or keep her outside. Spaying eliminates any chance of an oops.

if you are not going to breed her get her fixed. spaying your female also prevents against health problems and unlike some rumors it wont affect her personality. oh and about the never having complications thing that is not true. no matter what breed or what size any dog can have complications at any stage of their life.

Since your not into breeding, and her size already is a problem...yes do it. Because when she comes into heat every male dog for miles around will smell her. They will come out of the wood work and get her when you turn your head. It will lengthen her life and keep her out of problems for the day she is interested. Never , no never....leave anything to the risk of ragging harmones....NEVER.....yes get her fixed. Then you don't' have to worry. She'll be a better pet after its' over.

Please get her spayed-and as soon as you can. It doesn't matter if she is with another dog in the home or not-"mother nature" has a way of getting her to wander off when she is in heat. In heat-it's her cycle to get pregnant. Also, it makes it easier on her to be spayed, as well as easier on you.

You should take your child and go to the shelters and rescues. Then you and your kid will have the pride of adopting a pet and saving a life! There are many malteses and maltese mixes in shelters right now.

The "mess" of heat means that she will "spot" blood for about 7-9 days during her heat cycle. This gets messy when she sits or lays down on your furniture, carpets, and and fabric!!!
