Hindus don't have a specific food that I know of other than that the majority fo them do not eat beef or pork, or meat in general.
I'll post one of my favorite Indian recipes, so yummy!!
I believe it is called Aloo gobhi, can be served with Indian bread, rice, raita or mint chutney. Yogurt is my fave accompaniment, and for those who can't handle spicy dishes, yogurt can cool the pallate.
8 oz potatoes
5 tbsp ghee (clarified butter, but I use 2 tbsp)
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 fresh green chile, seeded and finely chopped
1 med cauliflower, broken into small florets
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 garlic cloves, cut into shreds
1-2 tbsp cilantro, finely chopped
Cook potatoes in their skins in boiling salted water for abt 20 mins, until just tender. Drain and let cool. When cool enough to handle, peel and cut into 1-in cubes.
Heat 3 tbsp ghee in pan or wok. When hot, add cumin, coriander, turmeric, cayenne and chile. Let the spices sizzle for a few seconds.
Add cauliflower and abt 1/4 c water. Cook over med heat, stirring constantly, for 6-8 min. Add potatoes and stir-fry for 2-3 min. Season w salt, then remove from heat.
Heat remaining ghee in small frying pan. When hot, add cumin seeds and garlic. Cook until garlic is lightly browned. Pour the mixture over the vegetables. Sprinkel with cilantro and serve at once.
Another fave is potato samosas, if you can find a good recipe for those, you will be well off. I like samosas with a mint chutney, soooo yum!!
Palak paneer is really good too, but it may not go over well with many, especially those who don't like spinach.

Hindus don't have specific food. You can find any Indian recipe that's vegetarian and use that for your project. A good thing to make would be khaman. If you don't want to make something, go to an Indian restaurant or store and get veg samosas.
