My mom was just swiched from cymbalta to zoloft 100mg, while remaing on 30mg of cymbalta, she is very weak and very dizzy, she went to the ER all her levels were normal as well as her vitals, is this a side effect of zoloft?

I agree with Penny. That is a lot of anti-depressant medication. Zoloft is strong stuff that should be raised more gradually then that I would think. Cymbalta is also fairly strong but her body should be used to it. The dizzy stuff may just be a temporary side effect but I would report this to the dr. that prescribed it. My partner made this switch. She was on the highest dose of cymbalta and went to 150mg of zoloft. She was weaned of off the cymbalta gradually, then raised back up on zoloft at the same time. She was never on more then 75-80 mg combined at one time until off of the cymbalta then they raised up the zoloft the rest of the way 25mg a week until up to 150mg.

starting off on 100 mg of Zoloft right away is a pretty hefty dose. Coupling that with Cymbalta, might be too much for her. Was she on a higher dose of Cymbalta and then lowered it when starting the Zoloft? Sometimes decreasing the dosage of these meds quickly can make a person feel really sick. She should go back to her doctor who prescribed these meds, and get them straightened out. I had some bad side effects from Zoloft too- it made me super tired all the time. Had to get off that one. Maybe she needs something else.

It's damn sure a side effect of something she's putting in her body! Zoloft is really a weird drug, I got uncontrollable yawning from that mess, I lasted a week and threw it out.

Have your mom go to a good nutritionist who can do a vitamin/mineral blood level work-up on her, I'm betting her B12 is on the non existant side and a couple of others as well. I was on anti depressants for almost a year, a jab in the *** of B12 was all I needed. Now that was depressing!! Could have had it fixed right off the bat!

zoloft can make u dizzy until u get it in ur system. the other side effects can be;anxiety, constipation, fatigue, gas, headach indigestion, insomnia, nervousness, vision problems. and others. this dosent mean ur mom will have all these side effects, so dont let what i told u scare u or ur mom.it just means she could have one or more of these till it gets in ur system. the dr may increase or decrese the dosage down the road. its a good medicine i take it my self, but just 50 ml. hope ur mom gets well soon. ill be praying for her. god bless

no unless there's something in the zoloft in her body that she's rejecting. But i've never heard of that.
