Gatorade or health waters have added minerals to keep your body from losing those minerals. Remember caffeine tends to add to dehydrations so you would want to stay away from sodas, coffee and tea.

Pepsi (not coke, and not diet pepsi) has the same electrolyte balance as pedialyte (which they give to keep sick kids from being dehydrated). That's just a little tidbit that might help if you can't get water during the day. Also, remember that when you drink the water passes out of your stomach within a half hour (it doesn't need digestion), so you probably want to keep a large water bottle handy so you can drink every half hour. It doesn't hurt to have several water bottles with cold or semi frozen water available in a variety of places you will be (such as if I'm home for the day, have a water bottle by my desk, another on the coffee table, another on the kitchen table or if working, one in the car, one at workspace and one in lunch bag). That way you see it all the time and it's a visual prompt or reminder. Another thing, you only begin to "feel thirsty" after you've begun to get dehydrated. So, you need to be drinking even before you feel thirst.

Relax. You are not going to weaken your immune system because you miss a few glasses of water. Eat a little salty food and drink a glass of OJ - 100 mg potassium is sufficient with reccomended sodium intake to balance the sodium/potassium pump in most reasonably fed humans.

8 glasses is the ideal, if you are an athlete you need to drink water before, during and after exersice... plus, you need to drink more than the rest of the mortals. Be careful, don't overdo it, when you have excess water you wash your body from sodium, something which will lead you to a disease called hyponatremia, which could lead you to death... so, drink a sip or two every5-10 mins. They say the ideal is when your urine is colorless and you need to visit the restroom every 2-3 hrs.

you can also drink to much water, and that can lead to bloating and pallor, try power aid and other sports drinks as well as orange juice.

4 x 500ml bottled water a day is plenty, and the body can cope with that.

Eat a little bit of salt. I know that makes you thirsty, but it also helps your body utilize the water. Just don't overdo it.
