Go to irs.org and find the free tax program list. Click on HR Block which will take you to Tax Cut. If you qualify (depends on your income), your Federal return will be FREE and your State return will be $24.95. If your return is simple, you can spend less than an hour doing your taxes... the software is easy to use. Since they also allow direct bank deposits of refunds, you can feel confident in the security features.

This is mostly a personal preference.

Turbo tax or Tax Cut are the top selling. Security is not much of an issue with the big ones although they are subject to attach over the Internet. E-file is often free is some promotions I don't know if that is true this year.

No 'Best' exists. All secure web sites are equally secure. Either your return is simple enough to use ANY program. of it is too complicated to trust a computer program.

i've used turbo tax for years and no problems. you might find better deals w/taxcut, they have lower prices and are trying to grab market share from turbo tax.

I think it is H and R block because everyone tells me the real H & R block helps you a lot so why shouldn't the online one! Hope it helps.
