I'm guessing because if the execution was botched or the person surivives due to equipment failure the person is still healthy so they can try again.

Why would they go searching for a Used needle? It's much easier to just use a brand new needle.
Also, the person who was sentenced to death was sentenced to death by lethal injection- NOT by HIV or some other disease that could inflict the person in the seconds before they die if they were to use a Used needle.
I know this was a rhetorical question but I answered it anyway.

If you were the technician assigned to start the IV site on the condemned, would you want to use a dirty needle? The tech would be at higher risk for a contaminated needle stick if an accident happened. Additionally, all needles and syringes are pre-packaged by the manufacturer in sterile packages.
Just because they are condemned does not mean that they are not people deserving of dignity and respect.

unfortunately they have to keep the execution "humane". at least that is how it is explained from the law. truthfully, i feel the poison being injected into their bodies will kill them faster than any baterial/viral infection from an unclean needle will. you can't expect too much from our gov't and laws. this is America. That's how we roll. lol.

Needles are disposable and so everytime you get a needle it is sterile.

I've always wondered the same thing.
What difference is going to make one way or another.

lol. interesting question.
Seriously... it is more for the safety of the one administering it, I would guess. Dirty needles put them at risk.
