Try a rescue organization - There are plenty of "Cute little dogs" just waiting for homes! It won't be free, but it won't cost you a lot (Max $100).

Dogs are very expensive. Especially puppies. Make sure you've planned your budget carefully--even a little dog. For example, if its a puppy plan on an intial $100 on the first group of supplies (food, a couple toys, crate). Then at the very least $300 on initial shots and about the same to get it neutered/spayed. And Yorkies require a lot of grooming as well.

If you've carefully thought about that and you still want a Yorkie, check www.petfinder.com and newspaper ads in the area (including surrounding counties). Plus Miami has a huge SPCA. Just be careful with the newspaper--Yorkies are popular breeds and therefore tend to be used by Nigerian/Cameroon scam. artists. If you see one Free if you just pay shipping, avoid at all cost.

The first step in being a good pet owner, is knowing that you can afford to take care of it. That means vet bills not just for emergencies but all the shots and routine check-ups. The right food, training, toys, ... It all adds up.

If you can not, after wanting one for 7 years (and it sounds like you have not saved anything), afford to pay for a good healthy Yorkshire, than you are not yet ready to take care of one.

If your parents did not get you one then I guess they know best.
