Go with neutral colors on the backsplash, countertops, & floor. Then the walls can be any color you desire. I have been researching colors also lately getting ready to redo my kitchen and a shade of green seems to be high on the list of comforting. Not neon green but a pastel green.

I have a grey rock looking tile on the floor, the cabinets are oak and the appliances are black I have a beige tiles(you can't get anymore) so I got the grout dyed and it works really good that way.
So the back splash can go with the countertop but you dont' have to.just put together what you think looks good.

match or coordinate? Tiles are shiney which makes the colors appear different colors with different light? You'll have to find the base color in the tile and hope for the best...go a bit lighter to compensate for the shine.

It's best to match back splash with the counter tops and the floor, unless the floor is a wood floor, then it's not necessary. Say if you have green in your counter top and your floor is an off white, then put off white back splash with some green in it. If you have a white colored floor and white counter tops, then I would add a color to the back splash then. If your counter tops are butcher-block and your floor is wood, then you would definitely want to have a color on the back splash or else white and put lots of color around on the walls and with accessories.

Go with a neutral color that will match anything. You will change the wall color many times more than you will replace the tile. I would opt for white. Goes with everything or a marble look.

I have pink ceramic tile in my bathroom and believe me I wish I had a standard color....

Good Luck!!!

Is your kitchen all one colour- then a light contrasting colour will suit best, if there are a few different colours use the colour there is the least of to achieve a balanced finish. If this doesn't help see if you can get your hands on a colour spectrum chart to give you more options.

if you want your kitchen to appear open use white. it's a safe all purpose color. also try granite and marble. both come in exquisite colors and contrasts. they'll add a sense of style to any kitchen. greens (granite) would probably go better with lighter woods, and stainless steal appliances. dark, dirty reds go great with white walls, dark cabinets, and white appliances. it sounds funky but it's pretty unique. again, back to white, it's a "safe color" so is black.
