If there is no God, in my opinion there is no reason to believe in another life after this one. If that is the case -- if there is no God -- then we live in an impersonal universe and this life we experience now is probably it -- why should we think otherwise?
But if there is a God, and God is good and powerful, then another life is the only way to explain how God is both good and powerful given the kind of world we live in, where there is great injustice and suffering -- where some have way too much and others have way too little, and where bad people sometimes do very well for themselves and good people -- even innocent children -- suffer. If we believe in a just and powerful God, logically there has to be another time later (after this life) where those who have suffered unjustly in this life receive another life, one better than they experienced here. Otherwise, as St. Paul once said, we are of all people most to be pitied. If this is all there is, people who live their lives causing suffering to others or at least not willing to do anything to help others may never have any reason to regret it, and there will be nothing to compensate those who die too soon as the result of others (for example, murdered innocent people). A just universe requires more than what we see in this life.

In the Bible, “soul” is translated from the Hebrew ne´phesh and the Greek psy·khe´. Bible usage shows the soul to be a person or an animal or the life that a person or an animal enjoys. To many persons, however, “soul” means the immaterial or spirit part of a human being that survives the death of the physical body. Others understand it to be the principle of life. But these latter views are not Bible teachings.

I will answer this with an old children's church song-
The B I B L E, yes that's the book for me!
I stand alone on the word of God! The B I B L E- Bible!
And if there was not life after death than Jesus' death and resurrection would of been in vain- there would of been no point. For HE is the reason we live! And it is only through Him we can be saved from hell, and inherit the kingdom of Heaven! See Romans 3:23- Romans 6:23 and Romans 5:8-9

Nothing makes me think, I choose when and what to think.
Seriously though, the idea of life after death is just a way for people to not have to worry as much about their own deaths. Some people find the idea of death really depressing.

Logical debate and analytical examination/meditation on the Buddha's teachings on the subject along with evidence in the world of people who have legitimately claimed they recall a past life.

Ever feel like you lived before? Ever hear the term "old soul"? That's what makes me think there is. I don't necessarily see it being cut and dry like heaven and hell, I really sure hope the Christians aren't right because either I have to spend an eternity in hell, or an eternity with them.

You only need to believe you don't need any more proofs.
Science has given evidence for the Evolution and it is a known fact know.
But religion is only a matter of belief.
DO NOT MEASURE BELIEF WITH PROOFS.
Either you believe or not.

The reason I think so is because it is so hard to imagine us just disappearing. It is so hard to imagine all of our rational thought and everything to just disappear. I think something has to happen about us. I'm far from asserting my beliefs, and I sure don't believe in hell or heaven. I may be wrong and it may just end.

very interesting....... some will say they believe because of near death experiences..... others will say there is a heaven, it's written in the bible.... i know this from my own experiences, people with epilepsy experience a type of phenomena that is very similar to near death experiences when we go into seizure. so my belief is that it's a state of mind, not of being.

God your creator has promised it to you if you accept His Son as your Saviour, in John we read " he who has the Son has life , he who has not the Son of God has not life and this life is in His Son.
