You can watch DVDs on Windows Media Player, you know. Also, there should be a program called PowerDVD that came with your system.

I use my Windows Media Player that came installed on my computer. Basically, all computers come with Windows Media Player installed on it...if you're using Windows operating system.

I watch DVD's on my Windows Media Player and listen to mp3's on it all the time perfectly.

You can use Media Center (already installed if you run windows), but you'll need a DVD decoder plug-in and I think they charge for those. Check them out here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/plugins.aspx

Or you can use DSPlayer, free and available here:

Most DVD players for computers are also sold with a decoder, so if you installed it yourself or you bought the PC with a DVD player, one should be included. It may be MediaPlayer plus one of the DVD decoder add-ons, if you are running Windows. Not free, because you already paid for it with the cost of your PC, but same effect.
