There is a serial number on the birth certificate, I think its up the top. Yes they do send the document back to you, separate post than the provisional.

I don't know where the number is but they should return your certificate to you if you send it however you should also be able to send a certified copy instead - basically take it to a GP/bank/solicitors maybe even the post office an they will take the copy and sign it as being a copy of the original.

If you don't get it certified then you stand a chance of it being sent back as unacceptable.

A UK birth certificate is acceptable in the UK, where it is requested for many reasons. Always send any originals by registered post and, if appropriate, intimate a date by which it must be returned to you.

The info on the cert is usually sufficient.

purely bypass and get married on the county courthouse then once you stored up adequate money have a rite. Have some close human beings come to the courtroom homestead with you like mum and dad and everyone else who could decide to be there. They use your maiden call in any case so it is not going to count number with you're married or no longer.

Do you mean registration #?

It should be on the front, and it should say thats what it is above or below it.

I would photocopy it and send in that, unless they require the original.. in which case, make sure that you will get it back (call and ask, should be a 1 800 # somewhere)..

Some post office's offer a service for new passports where they check your documents instead of you sending them through the post. They charge for this service. Ask at your local one which one does it in your area.
