It's only $5 dollars a month, and I'd pay for it myself. my brother's 17 and still does not have it, so it's not an issue with my age (I'm almost 16). All of my friends text, and I feel left out. I really think that it would be easier. I need some ideas as to why my Dad should let me have texting. I never ask for anything, on Christmas I only get a few little presents. The cell phone was a Christmas/Birthday gift. The issue isn't money, it's just the fact that my dad doesn't see why I need it. Please help :)

I think your Dad doesn't see that it is a "need" on your phone. Maybe offer him a trial period as a compromise, and show him that you are responsible enough to have it, without abusing it. I am 30, and compromise with responsibility always worked with my parents when I was you age. If I screwed up, I lost privelages. If I was responsible, I got to have pretty much what I wanted (PRETTY MUCH!) Hope this helps!

See the way I look at is that your dad doesn't see it as a necessity and really its not. I have texting on my cell and do believe that I have only used it twice in the last 18 months. The way I look at it is that you need to grow up and realise what is important in life and trust me wheather or not you have texting on your phone is not important

why should he? that phone is a luxury not a necessity. you're pretty ungrateful. be happy you got the phone and quit asking for more. if he said no then its no.
