3 Strikes Rule

For bad behavior or being defiant. first time=warning, second=taking toy, or privilege away, third=spanking. With my oldest 2 daughters, I have only had to give one spanking each for our 3 strikes policy. They always do what is asked after the warning.

I run an in home daycare and have 2 children of my own. I never had a chart like this. I always just did the count down if I got to three then they got put in the corner for a time out. Which was one minute for every year of their age. The time wouldn't start until they stood there quietly for the entire time. If they got out, then the time would start all over again. With my 2 year old the first time it took about 1/2 hr, now he knows I mean business, and the same thing happened with my 5 year old. All it takes is consistency so that they know you mean business. And I have never had to spank or hit my children to get my point across. Good Luck.

I never spank my children but we do have a reward chart that encourages good behavior, helping around the house or managing everyday tasks on their own without help. Whenever my children misbehave, they recieve a warning and then a time-out if they don't comply. They recieve an automatic time-out if they hit. That happens rarely because we have a no hitting rule in our home. We never hit them, they don't hit us. Spanking does not work long term anyways, it is just for parents who fail to use other alternatives.

The only chart I have is for chores to remind my daughter what she has to do each day so she can get her full allowance every week. As for punishments: a chart isnt needed for most kids. If you are consistant they will know what their punishments will be.

Charts aren't necessary but they can work if you want one.
