My hair is thick, wavy and frizzy. Does anyone have a good routine for sleek and shiny hair?

Try looking for a shampoo that's specifically for your hair type, there are dozens out there. I think Vive is one of them. For frizz, try Frizz-ease serum - it works wonders! Just make sure you dont over-do it, otherwise it will look greasy.

I USED to have the same problem!
Gotta admit>>> John Frieda works FaBuLoUs!!
But... if you want something that works just as well (100% the same!) try
Garnier Fruitese Sleek and Shine System: Shampoo && condition whenever and the next day it will look really good (sleek & shiny!)
Other tips:
-Your hair could be getting fried by heat (straightners, curlers, etc.) be sure to put on a protecting cream/spray
-Drink lots of water! (It will hydrate your hair actually)
-Brush before bed (keeps hair from breaking in tangles while sleeping)

Good Luck!

My hair is thick and curly, and tends to frizz if I don't condition it. My routine is to use no shampoo, just conditioner, then finger-comb in the shower. No combing or brushing once you're out! Dry by leaning your head over a big piece of cloth and scruching. Use a pillowcase or a t-shirt, but no terrycloth because the little nubs break up the curls. If you can sit in the sun, that's a great way to dry your hair (not happening right now in Michigan). Once your hair is about halfway dry, scrunch in some gel.

I have similar hair and have tried a slew of products for it. Your best bet is to start of in the shower, with a shampoo and conditioner designed for sleek, shiny hair. These products will help to smooth down the cuticle (outer layer) of the hair helping it to lie flatter so you'll have smoother looking hair with less curl and frizz.

Sometimes referred to as "glossing" or "straightening" products, a lot of companies are making some great options these days. TIGI makes an entire line of smoothing products called "S factor" that has always worked for me. For a more affordable alternative, Clairol's Herbal Essences "Dangerously Straight" shampoo and conditioner are great buys and still work really well.

Using a conditioner regularly is an especially important step as it will help to repair damage and provide extra control, essential to frizzy and curly hair. Leave it on for up to 3-5 minutes if you can. The extra time allows it to penetrate the hair strand more deeply giving you greater benefits.

Also, rinsing hair in cold water before you get out of the shower will help to seal down the hair cuticle giving you shinier, smoother hair.

Once you're out of the shower, I recommend applying John Frieda's Frizz-Ease serum to towel dried hair. They make a regular, light and extra-strength formula so you can get the level of control you need. If the serum makes you hair too greasy you can: use a lighter formula, be sure to apply the product while you hair is still very damp, don't apply too much, and just apply the product to the ends of your hair (avoiding the roots where oil will appear first). Frizz-Ease is the best product I've found for taming curly, frizzy hair. Even if I use a regular shampoo, as long as I use the Frizz-Ease I have fairly good results.

From here, you can let your hair air dry or blow dry it straight in small sections. Be sure to aim the air flow down the shaft of your hair, again, to help seal down the hair cuticle. A ceramic and/or ion hair dryer can help provide extra smoothness and shininess. And if you're still struggling, you can run a (ceramic) straightening iron over the hair for a final hit of sleekness.

My hair is the exact same! I wash it at night, let it dry mostly on its own, and then use a big round brush and dry it in sections (underneath first and the top last). I put it Garnier sleek and shine leave in conditioner (also use the shampoo and conditioner). Don't put in a lot of the conditioner, just mostly where your hair is the frizziest, not near the roots-that makes it greasy looking. Then blow some cool air from your dryer on it and then sleep on it that night and in the morning it should be fairly calmed down! :) Good luck!

A Paul Mitchell product "Straight Works" prior to blow drying hair for the sleek look and a produck called Silk Therapy gives an outstanding shine to your hair; you can apply this product several times, even after hairspray. In fact it will often disolve some of the sticky types of hair spray.

Hey, if the gels, conditioners, chemicals, irons, etc. dont do the trick........do what I have done. I have a large tub outside that I catch rain water in just for washing my hair. I have discovered the minerals in my water caused my hair to be heavy, tangle and frizz. I couldnt even get a comb thru it. I do use a good conditioner, but I can assure you, rain water has made such a difference to my hair I cant stand washing without. And during the summer, I take advantage of those nice rain showers outside.
