We had a Yellow lab that had 8 puppies. All boys and one girl! All the boys are gone (sold) and I have the little girl. We are keeping her. We placed her in their welping box (where they've lived for 7 weeks together) and she cried all night!!! I swear I woke up 4 times during the night and she was barking or crying. What can I do to help her? I tried taking her out and sleeping with her in the living room, but she barked at the barrier I had up to keep her contained in that room!
HELP!!! I can't stand to her the poor thing cry :(

I would say a few things.. either le her sleep with you, there is nothing wrong with that, they are the loveliest dogs ever. Labs just want to be loved and seem to need alot of attention--at least mine does-and she is 11 mths. Or put her with her mom, or if you have something with the mothers sent, and her brothers, like a tou or blanket, put that with her, it may ease her. She just may be the one that just needs extra attention, just let her sleep with you-- nothing like a big ol' lab(when she gets bigger) taking up half the bed. i swore up and down my lab would not sleep in my bed, well after a few nights of her crying and looking so pitiful--she now has her own side to the bed with her own blanket and everything.

She's crying because she is lonely - she had a pack, and now it's all gone!!

NOW everytime you REACT when the dog cries by giving it attention, you are REINFORCING that CRYING WORKS.

It's really hard, but you need to ignore the crying and she will eventually stop, but you need to have patience

Also, consider getting her a smaller crate to sleep in and a small stuffed animal she can snuggle with at night so she doesn't feel too lonely. Make sure her crate is in a common room where you spend the most time. Isolating her to a lonely space will only make her more upset, she needs to be part of a pack. With her brothers gone, YOU are her pack now, so put her crate in the family room or wherever you hang out the most.

ALSO puppies can NOT last more than 4 hours without needing to relieve themselves, so you will NEED to get up in the middle of the night to let her out intil she is about 4 months old and her bladder can handle going all night without being relieved.

This is going to sound really mean, but let her cry. She'll stop in a couple of days. You can give her some stuffed animals, or a one of those water-bottle-heated things to remind her of the warmth when she was sleeping with her brothers.

She does need to go out at night, but take her out, and if she doesn't go, then put her back to where she's sleeping.

If you keep jumping at her every bark and cry, she's just going to keep crying and barking every time she wants attention.

I read in a book that lab puppies get lonley the first couple of days they are away from their mother. It said that you should give it a soft plush toy and a ticcking clock wrapped in a blanket, because these things remind it of it's mother and it's litter. After a while, they grow out of it. Whatever you do, don't let her sleep on your bed because she'll get used to it and want to sleep there even when she is full grown, and by then it won't be so cute anymore. I hope this works for you.

She's just sad because all her brothers are gone. If you still have the mom you can let them sleep together. It would be good for the both of them, really. If you don't, then you will just wait for her to grow out of it. Since they had been there in the welping box together, then she proably cries because its cold and lonely.

She will feel safer in a crate with a soft blanket and toy. She wil wimper and cry if she has to go to bathroom because animals naturally refrain from soiling their dens. So youll have to let her out a few times at night. Nothing you do can help her loneliness but love and attention. She will settle down when she gets accustomed to her surroundings. Be patient.

Um.... and where is Mommy Lab???? Why can't she be with mommy or in a Kennel.

Having her sleep with you is not a good idea. If you just leave her alone, no matter how heartless it sounds, she'll learn to like her crate.

Poor little girl, she can't talk so she just cries.
If you lost all your brothers you'll cry too.
Seroiusly, try taking her to your bed at night,
she must be scared of the dark alone,

Hope it work, did it with our little dog.

She is lonesome. Get her an old-fashioned clock that ticks. Put it in the box ... the ticking should help. Or perhaps one of those tapes that have animal sounds. Either one ... the poor dear is very lonesome.

Get her some stuffed animals and the clock thing does help. Put it under the stuffed animals. Good luck...and sweet dreams.
