I'm looking into buying a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I've been researching and I'm wondering what average payments are. I was quoted a price of 23,076 for a 2006, speedway blue, access cab with sport package. What have been you're experiences with this truck? Is it worth the money?

thats the exact car i have.. mine is white but other than, identical and i love it. it keeps its resale value and ive yet to have a problem with it. i actually just found out im pregnant so i am selling it to get a family car and trade in value is 22,000 dollars still, even being a year old. not too many pick up trucks like that.. private sale value according to kelley blue book is 24,000 dollars. i say its well worth the money. it holds its value and is an awesome toy! lots of fun AND reliable...

There is an article in this months issue of Car & Driver that reviews the Tacoma. The magazine staff drove the truck for 40,000 miles and they share their thoughts. I'd recommend reading that article before buying. They don't give it excellent ratings, but they don't hate it either. Main complaint from the C/D staff-squishy brakes.

could be
are you sure you want a truck?
there are better values in the small truck market
you could get a Ford Ranger with all that for a few grand less, you might need to negoiate a bit more and shop on the last day of the month or quarter, when salesmen are trying a bit harder
trucks are alot more thristy than cars
people hauling is a lot harder with a truck, though trunk space is much better!
you can get one used for a much better price, I bet you could find a 2002 Ford F150 with leass than 50k miles on it, same package for 20k

If you are interested in a truck that will make it past the 300,000 mile mark with very little other than basic maintenance... this is your truck ! I have owned 5 Toyotas in the past 25 years... these vehicles are simply the best bar none !

I hope you have better luck then my friend had. The engine crapped out on him after 25K miles. He took care of it too.... But I personally dont like import trucks, they're like driving a toy around. Way too small. But it could be perfect for you. Its your truck I wouldn't bother asking this question, you are going to get alot of different answers. If it is new it sounds like a decent price.
