You basically need to start over and potty train it as if it was a puppy...
Pull up the papers.
Limit the dogs food and water intake - Do not free feed or leave the water down. Bring the dog outside first thing in the morning, about 1/2 hour after it eats or drinks, every 2-3 hours and before you go to bed. Praise the dog when it goes outside. If you have an accident and see it happening, tell the dog NO, then take it outside. If you don't see it happen, show it to the dog (DON'T rub it's nose in it), tell it NO, then take it outside.
A dog is never too old to learn, just have patience!

You can surely train an ancient canine new tips. You simply ought to be clear and constant about coaching her. When your fiancee picks her up when she whines, that teaches the dog that you just whine when you wish to have to be picked up and that is the proper solution to get the awareness that you need. Are attempting leaving her on the ground or in her mattress. Don't give her any awareness at all except she is obviously quiet and sitting still. Then when she sits still and quiet, give her a deal with and reward her like loopy. Keep doing this time and again until that you would be able to tell that she understands why she's getting a treat. Simply ensure to toughen the behavior instantly so she will be able to put two and two collectively. It is going to be tough to get her to do it at first, you just must be sufferer. Just watch for her to stop whining after which praise her right away. Finally she'll trap on to the truth that she needs to be quiet primarily when she desires attention.

First start by moving the newspapers closer to the door to outside, gradually over several weeks. When the dog is using the newspaper by the doors effectively, You start to notice when he goes over to the papers, immediately take him outside. As soon as he goes bring him back inside and praise, praise, praise. It takes work and you have to be consistent. Don't be lazy and let him go on the papers. Take him outside when he shows the tendency to smell around and circle by the door. Never punish for accidents. After a couple weeks of taking him outside as soon as he starts to go on the paper by the back door, and you take him immediately outside, then remove the paper. He will learn that he needs to go outside. You may be able to put some paper outside the first few times you take him. Remember, be on the look out and you have to do it every time if you want it to work.

Well, paper training was your first mistake.
Now you'll need to take the papers OUTSIDE and teach her to start going on the papers outside, then you need to gradually remove the papers until she is going outside on her own.
Never waste your time with paper training... you can house train from the start using crates, and teaching them to go outside.
REMEMBER to ALWAYS ALWAYS Praise your dog when she goes outside - ALWAYS to reinforce to her that she is doing the right thing. Training is 80% reinforcement of GOOD behavior, and 20% punishment for bad behavior.

Crate training would be best. She won't want to mess up her home. Because she is older you are going to have to be very patient as it is going to take a lot longer. When she comes out of the crate she goes straight outside. Once she goes, give her a treat and let her have some freetime.

you could certainly practice an previous canine new tricks. you purely might desire to be sparkling and incessant approximately preparation her. while your fiancee alternatives her up while she whines, that teaches the canine which you whine once you elect to be picked up and that's the the terrific option thank you to get the attention which you particularly desire. attempt leaving her on the floor or in her mattress. do not supply her any interest in any respect till she is definitely quiet and sitting nonetheless. Then while she sits nonetheless and quiet, supply her a cope with and compliment her like loopy. shop doing this lower back and lower back till you could tell that she is conscious why she's getting a cope with. purely ensure you make stronger the habit immediately so she would be in a position to place 2 and a pair of mutually. that's going to likely be tricky to get her to do it on the start, you purely might desire to attend and notice. purely look ahead to her to end whining and then compliment her immediately. at last she'll capture directly to the actuality that she must be quiet especially while she needs interest.

Yikes! Try these links for some help. Your biggest issue is getting her to recognize the great outdoors as her bathroom, not the corner or corners she's been using all this time.
Good luck with her & have patience!

You must get professional help from some obedience school. They have the tactics to teach even older dogs new tricks. Trying it yourself cannot have much positive results and can be very frustrating.
