I have 3 male cats, all of them are fixed. They are about a year apart. We got all of the cats as kittens so they have grown up together. My middle cat Gizmo is very aggressive with my oldest cat, Kennedy(oldest) was fixed when he was a kitten so he has very soft skin, Gizmo and Peanut (youngest) were fixed two days apart but later on in life so they have tough skin. Every once and awhile Peanut and Gizmo will get into it but they are the same size. Every single time Gizmo see Kennedy he goes after him, fur gets the flying, and it sounds like Gizmo is try to kill him. Right now we lock Peanut and Gizmo in a spare bedroom while Kennedy romes the house. We switch them up every 3-4 hours. Kennedy is alot smaller than the other two, We've tried beefing him up with Nutra cal but he hates it. Do I have to keep switching them up for the rest of their lives or does some one know what to do? I can't get rid of any of them they are my babies. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Maybe try "Good Cat"? It's a liquid herbal supplement, available at Petco & most other pet stores. You put a few drops in their water. It's okay to use in "community" water as it has no effect on animals that don't need it. But for aggressive/territorial animals, it's supposed to have a calming effect. It's intended for use on aggressive animals, problem pee-ers, etc. I think it's around $10 for a bottle of it... but it'd last quite awhile. Worth a shot anyway.

The deal here is, Kennedy, though smaller, is the king and Gizmo wants the position.
Cats keep careful track of how much attention you give them and if they think you are giving them unsufficient attention compared to someone or something else, they'll get upset about it. Peanut may think you favor Kennedy. If Gizmo gets punished when he bothers Kennedy this will just intensify his feelings.
Try spending more time with Gizmo and gradually do it in the presence of Kennedy. Gizmo needs to know that he can get what he wants...your attention, without trying to assasinate Kennedy.

Sounds to me like Gizmo wants to be the dominant male. I also have 3 males (Sebastian 8, Silver 6, Marty 2) and all of them are fixed, but they don't fight like that. I would talk to your vet and tell him/her what is going on. There is no reason any cat should be confined to a room (my opinion), but I can totally understand why you are doing that. Just talk to the vet and see what they have to say. Good luck, hope everything works out for you.

Go to www.spirtessence.com and read about the use of flower essence with cat behavior problems. Dr. Hovfe has a "Bully Remedy" you could use on Gizmo to see if you can get him to scale down his aggressiveness with Kennedy. Best case senario it would eliminate it altogether.

Just always make sure that Kennedy is 'safe' from attack by either of his 'younger siblings' (even if they are not related, they all live in the same household) ... and I know how you feel because we had two cats that HATED each other ... but don't 'show them' any stress you might feel, because that will actually make their aggression to Kennedy WORSE ... but you will always have to 'feed them' each in their own place (separated by several feet) and when you 'give treats' be sure that they are EQUAL when you give them ... and make sure that Kennedy ALWAYS gets his treat FIRST, and ONLY give the other two theirs if they don't 'attack' Kennedy to get his or otherwise 'do harm' to him. They will eventually LEARN to get along, but it may take a year or more before you can actually have all three cats 'just living in the house' together. GOOD LUCK!

This is what worked for me in a similar situation.
When I wasn't able to surpervise, the cats had to be separated.
When I was home, I would allow the cats to be in the same room but watch carefull their contact and step in before any aggression could begin.
It took a long time, several months, but gradually the length of time they would tolerate each other increased. Eventually, everyone could hang out in the same room without a scrap.
I continued to separate them for awhile after things were going smoothly and eventually not at all.
Good Luck!

Wow, sounds like a tough situation. Maybe you can talk to your vet about getting the aggressive cat some medication to calm him down.

If you want to change the behavior, you could try having a pistol grip spray bottle and every time they fight viciously, spray them with water. They will soon learn to hate that bottle and you will only need to show it to stop the combative behavior. By the way, this works to keep them off furniture and many other behaviors.

Oh convinced! each of the time lol, it makes me leap up with fright and make an apology (cats call) and then I recognize that is in common words between the cats rubber balls that i'm stepping on. that is so humorous even as that takes position! lol
