First you need someone to marry, then a dress and some flowers and people to attend and someone who is able to marry you and some food to serve some guests...
Do you live under a rock or something? If you have to ask this question then maybe you should re-think the whole 'getting married' thing!!

Since you are getting married, I will forego the get yourself a groom part.
First thing first, you need to decide what kind of wedding you want. Big, small, elopment, destination, or just a justice of the peace.
Then you need to decide on a wedding date. (Be sure to have a few different dates, in case the venue you decide on is already booked on the date you want)
Then the church. Speak to your pastor about what the church entails, its different all over so we wont be able to give you in depth info
Next is the venue. Scout out a couple different places WITH YOUR FIANCE for your reception, (I know most guys say they dont care about wedding details, but you do have to pick a venue together) Each place will most likely give you a list of prices and packages to choose from. From there you decide what you want, sit down or buffet. And then you book it. You will have to give a depost the day you book, so be prepared for that.
Now it gets fun
You get to pick your attendants, your dress their dresses, the tuxedos, your favors, guest book etc
Choose a florist, go in with ideas that you have and talk to them.
Choose a DJ/Band
Choose a photographer and/or videographer
Get a few bridal magazines and start looking for ideas for everything.
The best advice anyone will give you is to be organized. Get yourself a three ring binder, make sections and get some plastic pages to put your stuff in. If you stay organized you will not become overwhelmed with everything.
Also, visit some websites like theknot.com to get some checklists and timelines.
Best wishes to you!

The only things you NEED to get married is
1. A groom
2. A marriage license from the state you're getting married in
3. An officiant authorized to perform marriages in your state
4. Two witnesses
This is ALL you need.
A better question to ask is, what do you WANT? Sit down with your fiancé and figure out what kind of wedding do you want to have. Big/small, inside/outside, religious/secular, fancy/simple? What is your budget? What kind of reception do you want to have, if any? Just start by figuring out a very general idea of what you would like your wedding to be, and then narrowing it down from there.

I was clueless when I started, but I found the internet to be my best resource. I searched "wedding" on ebay to get started. I Googled for images of cakes, flowers, hairstyles, etc. I found a website called ExclusivelyWeddings.com where you can purchase nice gifts for your bridal party and lots of reception needs.
An indispensible website has been WeddingChannel.com. You can set up your own free wedding website, there's a checklist on there to help you dot your i's and cross your t's. You can manage your guest list on there, too and download photos for visitors to see. There's a page where you can download pix of your bridal party and say something special to each of them. There's even a guest book so people can log on and leave a message for you.
It's only appropriate that most of my help & guidance has been internet based-that's how we met!
