First of all, you have to realize that those really big fancy hotels were not built because of winning gamblers. If you play just about any game long enough, you will lose all of your money.

The only ways you cam make money in by gambling

- Play Blackjack, learn how to count cards. This takes hours of practice (1,000+) and you will have a small edge. The casinos will then fight back. They will offer rules so poor that you cannot beat them. They will also use continuous shuffeler machines. They will also ban you from playing if they know you are good enough and come back often enough. And the pay is not all that great either. If you bet $5-$60, bet when the count is in your favor (less than half of the hands), and play 60 hands an hour, you will average $5/hour in winnings.

- Playing poker. Since you are playing against the players and not the house, you need to be a better poker player than the others at the table. Fortunatly, since everybody thinks that they can be the next Chris Moneymaker (an amateur who won the World Series of Poker a few years ago), there are a lot of really bad players in the poker rooms. You need to learn to play. Read some books, but you also need to play and lose a bunch of times before you become good enough to be a winner.

- Betting on sports and horses. There are a few really good bettors in sports. They are good because they know their game very well, and they are very selective about the games/races they bet on. But thanks to the internet, there is no need to head to Vegas for that.

- Video Poker. You need to find the best machines, and learn to play well. There are a number of books on the subject that you can read.

Even if you are a great gambler, you will still have losing trips. Just as anybody can get lucky, any great gambler can get unlucky. So if you want to leave Vegas with more money than you came in with on every trip, then you need to find a job in Vegas.

Well, first of all, try to avoid the real big bucks ones (like $1000 ones) and don't play too much. The most important thing is to not get addicted to it, because if you win some money, and you want to play more, then you (99% chance) will lose more money than you came with. So the best way to leave Las Vegas with more money that you took there is to know when to stop, and don't get addicted.
Good Luck and Have Fun! ^_^

I love Vegas!! I go about 3 times a year. I usually come back up once, break even once, and down once. The odds are your going to lose more than you win. As far as winning, if your good at poker (hold em or omaha) play where the tourists play in low pressure games (such as at MGM Grand). If your looking for table games such as blackjack, roulette and dice games try playing downtown at Four Queens... you find lower stakes and a much easier going atmosphere.

To answer your question: "If you want to leave with more money then when you got there" the best advice is: If you win early and are up $$ or up $$at any point on your trip.... stop gambling and dont spend any more money and thus you will assure yourself of leaving with more than what you came with. Of course the trick there is to be winning at some point.

Downtown generally is inexpensive than the Strip (and I for my part discover it extra a laugh), however on your first time I'd endorse staying at the Strip simply to get the entire traveler revel in. There are affordable locations to stick at the Strip corresponding to Imperial Palace, Ballys, Circus Circus or Stratosphere. If you're taken with staying downtown at a inexpensive fee regardless that, I'd endorse Fitzgerald's or The climate is nice in mid-April, with usual prime temperatures within the mid-70s to low-80s. For locations to consume downtown I'd endorse the Chicago Brewing Company at Four Queens. They make nice beer and the meals is fine and now not too highly-priced. I'm now not definite approximately the fees on the Golden Nugget pool, however on the bar I realize home beer is $four (unfastened if you are playing). And certainly downtown is secure so long as you keep within the subject below the cover (the Fremont Street Experience, that's a have to see). Transportation is affordable as good, with the Deuce bus being $three each and every method or $7 for a 24-hour cross.

some video poker machines can pe played in a VERY specific way so that in playing them you can average almost $10 an hour. While boring and frowned upon, you can sit all day at such a machine, soaking in the free booze that most casinos grant you, and come out on top.

Unless you're a genius at counting cards in 21, it's the only way you can count on MAKING money at any vegas game.

If you can find them, there are tables of EXACTLY which moves to make on these machines, depending on the payouts for different hands, and even computer programs that will tell you which machines (by per-hand payout) are guaranteed to pay out more than they take in...but ONLY if you play them BY THE BOOK.

Usually, this means making moves that in a poker GAME would be stupid...going for the SMALL hands, et-cetera.

I agree with all of the above. Don't play or get a job or do something strange, and earn money. The house wins. Vegas is not a good place to earn money unless you work there, it's a good place to have fun.

Controlled, educated, strategic blackjack play - and getting away from the table while you are up.

The house advantage on blackjack is less than 1%, and if played to strategy it falls to 0%.

Keno is 26% house advantage.
Carribean Stud Poker, over 5%.
Slots, usually 3-7%.

the house always wins. but stop playing when you are up...if you are ever up and play games with stratigies like poker or black jack. set aside a fixed amount to gamble with and if you lose it all consider it part of the fun of Las Vegas.

Bring a friend with you that you can trust and make sure he gets you out of there when the time is right. Kind of like a designated driver for gambling

The best way to double your money in Vegas is to fold your bankroll in half....and stick it back in your wallet.
