well without knowing you personally or any of your likes it is really hard to say something that you may like. pretty much anything can go on an arm.
here are the things i can think of off of the top of my head:
a geisha with a fan standing in front of a cherry tree
a japanese oni mask with a fire background
a hula girl with a palm tree and ocean in the background
and that's all i can come up with on the fly but if you tell a little more about what you like it'd be easier to come up with something.
BUT the most important thing is to pick a good tattoo artist. preferably a custom tattoo artist because even if you have the best idea in the world it will look bad if you don't have a great artist. and great artists are few and far between.

on my arm i have a tattoo of a baby with a mohawk playing guitar and my son's name under it. best tattoo ever.

Most tatoo parlors will have a varity of books regarding designs, lettering, and meanings. No matter where you end up, they should have several options.
