There have been at least two horses called Sugar:
Sugar (FR) was born in 1993 and was by the stallion Nashwan.
Sugar (GB) was born in 1985.
Go to the following link and type "sugar" in the horse search and it will list all known horses.
If, as many of us suspect, you actually mean SHERGAR (IRE). He was owned and bred by His Highness The Aga Khan IV, by Great Nephew out of Sharmeen in 1978.
He was trained by Sir Michael Stoute and won the Epsom Derby ridden by 19yr old Walter Swinburn and the Irish Derby ridden by Lester Piggott. All in all he won 6 times and earned some £436,000 in prize money.
As has already been said, he was kidnapped from his owners' Ballymany Stud in Co Kildare Ireland in Feb 1983, shortly before the start of his second season at stud.
He sired 35 foals in his one season at stud including the 1986 St Leger winner.
