I had to format the hard drive and reinstall windows xp.

The problem is that I have only got a tiny amount of hard disk space left after reinstalling a couple of my programs, I think when I reinstalled windows it might have been into the wrong partition? I know I've still got loads of space left, but windows thinks that the hard drive is nearly full. What do I need to do to fix this? Will I have to reinstall windows again?

Partition Magic is good but you have to buy it...the suppliers are not daft..the trial version only lets you create/change a nominal partition size of a few megabytes maximum. In order to handle gigabytes you have to purchase the software. So the choice is yours...I personally would reinstall windows.
Good luck.

Get yourself a trail version of partition magic from www.downloads.com. Use this to look at the disk and reallocate the partitions to how you want them.

The Partition Magic program is not the only tool available to do this by the way - but the only one I have ever used (and therefore would recommend).

Good Luck.

It's best to just install again, if you've only just put it back on. Much cleaner than playing with Partition Magic. Only takes 30 minutes.

I recommend you to use Acronis Disk Director. It can resize your partitions without any data loss. Follow the link to learn more: http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/diskdirectorsuite/
