Well, I'm in the eleventh grade right now, and would like to know: do you think it's alright that in Canada boys and I believe girls too, are given the right to train at seventeen years of age in basic military training? I mean the high schools are showing kids how to be potential killers, and the government says this is for education and credits. But the truth is when these kids finish the summer training for which they are being paid for- then these are the same kids in which are entering places like: Afghanistan and Iraq at 18,19 years of age and older. So what I'm saying is- is this right for highschools in Canada to do this? I'd say it's just a way to win the war- and they do not give a **** about these kids- what do you think?

I guess instead of volunteers they could draft them instead!

Basic military training LOL At 17 I was a Qualified Medical assistant in the Canadian Forces. I think it is great that Canada allows this I can think of lot worse things at 17 than making money while learning a trade. Also I could be wrong but doesn't the USA allow this as well in the form of ROTC programs and such?

Wow, I am impressed. train these kids, education, learn what life is really all about. Maybe give a lot of kid some direction in their lives.

Sort of like and outward bound program but with more benefits. And they make money too...that is great.

I think the US should implement this. A few weeks away from Mommy, Daddy, video games, iPods, cell phones and cars may give them a real perspectin on what life is all about.!!

I think that it's a good idea. A lot of 17 and 18 year old kids are in the wrong crowd and are impressionable. If they join the military they learn to take orders, be respectful and they also get to learn a trade as well as make money. I think it's great!

Hey, that's pretty slick, and totally unexpected from Canada. Offer basic training in high school, and then you've got a large semi-trained force if you ever need to draft a bunch of people at once.

They don't care about the students. It's easier to convince you it's a good thing when you're still young and impressionable, eager to fit into a group, susceptible to peer pressure, and not sure what you want to do with the rest of your life. They're afraid if they wait until you're in college, have graduated, or have gotten a job or started a family of your own, that it will be harder to pull you away.

When I think of all the good people who have died so that you have the right to spew such obvious ignorance, well, I'm just speechless; absolutely SPEECHLESS.
