I'm sick of it myself. I can only imagine how many parents out there got rid of their car seats just to buy one of the 2 most expensive ones that they claimed were the only ones that past the tests.

Having the baby in the car during an accident is dangerous, period. Hell, its dangerous for adults to be in car during an accident. Carseats can diminish that danger, but never completely eliminate it. The only difference is that Adults are grown enough to take advantage of the safety restraints. Babies are not and a device that helps them still won't perfectly replicate the effect of being grown enough to be in the safety system's targets.
Bottom line, carseats are like helmets that skydivers wear. If you land skydiving and smack your head on the ground, you'll be fine where you would have had an injury. But if that parachute doesn't open, no helmet is going to help you.
It may also help you breathe easier that all of the carseats passed the FEDERAL regulatory tests. This test was an independent study and had absolutely no one to answer to. They could have said that a car seat will come to life and eat your child and still would have held the right to publish their results.

No, I am afraid not! All testing results are vulnerable to inconsistencies..simply because they are performed by people. They can only test the seats based on what they have learned by past accidents. Your baby will most likely be safe, so try not to fret. It is normal to want the best for your child..but no safety seat is a guaranteed life saver. They are designed to protect the babies body in an "average" accident. I am 32 and there was no law to put children in car seats. I made it and so many before me did. I am glad however that the law exsist now.
Once your baby is born, head over to your local fire department or highway patrol office and ask them to properly secure your car seat into your car. Key thing when doing this is you have to have your child with you. Good Luck , Congratulations and don't worry so much!!!

I am one of "those" parents who are paranoid. I have a friend who owns an Eddie Bauer car seat. The baby flew out of the base when she turned the corner. (She installed the seat properly) It was really scary. Eddie Bauer sent her two more bases but she ended up buying a new car seat. She figured if they have to send her two extra bases just in case, she might as well just get a new one.
I will be replacing my old car seat with one of the ones that passed the original test when I have another child. As parents we always want what is best for our children.

its irritating, but all we can do is our best as moms. We pick the best car seat we think will work for us and we choose to drive defensively and safely, something could happen anyways, no matter what you do.
I guess I just think that we have to realize that we are doing our best in spite of what all the tests and studies say, and that is really all we can do.

"i know you for being out; maximum human beings might supply up. God bless you! i will pray for you." i don't know with regards to the main offensive, yet that one irritates the hell out of me. "Out" as in out and approximately, not as in "out of the closet" - that's ironic because of the fact i'm a factor-time handbook chair consumer who additionally occurs to be gay. i will many times purely ignore approximately them and proceed on, yet there are situations i've got replied with: "Why, thank you! My spouse and that i particularly rejoice with being lesbians." the seems on their faces... Oh boy, LOL!
